For you who do you feel is the saddest,darkest,or most tormented soul in anime?

I guess for me it would have to be garra from Naruto.Unlike naruto he was never loved,he never had any friends,even though he has friends now he is still hurting on the inside....

I think Naruto and Gaara were both equally tormented as children. xp

Because of some circumstances as a child, he grows up to be a serial killer. Even has a child, he killed a ton of people, inlcuding his own foster parents. He orchestrates people around him to do his will, whether it's killing other people or manipulating them for his own gain. He considers himself "a monster without a name", and his ultimate goal is to be the last person standing at the end of the world. His motives are essentially to corrupt others and to cause pain, torment, and destruction.

Monster is an amazing series, both the manga and the anime. The anime follows the manga scene for scene basically, so checking out either one will get you the same story.

I have to agree with this. Johan has to be one the saddest characters in anime. His entire life and mindset is hopelessly twisted because of circumstances that were out of his control as a child.

Monster is basically a story about how "a human can be anything", depending on what they've been taught/experienced. A new human life is like a lump of clay that can be molded into any number of things.
