Just read that if you were nominated as a community leader but still wanted to post here about why you should get pick that you can.  So, since I posted on my clan's website/forum, and only one of my clanmates "nominated" me as a community leader, I wanted to take the time to post why I should get picked into the beta test.

I've been playing games from the Socom series ever since Socom 1 came out.

I have played every Socom that has come out, even the PSP titles.

I am in the clan MAM and we have been together since Socom 1.

I have played ALL of the Socoms.  When the network adapter and Socom came out, both at the same time if I remember right, I went out and bought the game and network adapter for a friend, cause it was his birthday.  I went to his place and played, and was blown away, cause it was my first online game to see.  (I was never much into PC games except games like Leisure Suit Larry and Space Quest).  Anyways, I got hooked right away on Socom, and that week I rushed out, bought a PS2, Network Adapater, Memory Card, and Socom.  Best decision ever made, cause Socom easily became my favorite game for a short time.  I say a short time cause Socom 2 came out just a little over a year after Socom 1 came out.  Socom 2 was and still is my favorite game I have EVER played and I have played many, many games over many, many consoles starting with the Atari.  One month after Socom came out, a friend and I were playing in a room, it was Nightstalker and we were Terrorists, and the clan that was in there said that we were good and they would like us in the clan.  We didn't really want to join at first, cause we had never played with clans before, but I will never regret that decision of joining them.  At the time the clan was called ~PNZ~, and although we have changed names 3 or 4 times, we still have all of our original members.  Our clan name as of Socom 3 was and still is MAM or Martial Arts Masters.  Before MAM, we were the clan 007, and all of us had Bond names, like James Bond, Knick Nack, Oddjob, Jaws, and so on.  We stuck with a theme, and now all of us have Martial Arts Masters names' like Bruce Lee, Donnie Yen, Tony Jaa, Yuen Woo-Ping, Jet Li, and so on.  Anyways, I along with many of my clanmates have beta tested Socom 2 and Socom 3.  We have been devoted to the game, and all of us agree that Socom 2 was the best game EVER made.  We took the beta tests for Socom 2 and Socom 3 very seriously and reported many, many bugs, but when the games shipped, they were not fixed.  Zipper had even said while we were beta testing Socom 2 and 3 that we had an early build and that many of the things we reported were fixed, when infact, they weren't.  If picked for this beta test, once again, I will take the beta test very seriously, and search vigorously for bugs and report any that I find or come across.  Sorry this paragraph was so long, but my Socom "career" is something that I love and I really just feel good sharing my memories with the Socom community.

• How long have you been playing games from the SOCOM franchise?  I have been playing games from the Socom franchise since 2 months after Socom 1 came out.  The vast majority of my time was on Socom 1 and Socom II
• What SOCOM games have you played? Socom I, Socom II, Socom 3, & Socom Combined Assault 
• Are you in a clan? Yes. Currently in d|p on Socom II.  Clans that deserve an honorable mention because of the experience, the teammates, and the good times sE (Socom II) and HsK (Socom II and 3).  I helped create and lead HsK.
• Tell me in one paragraph why you want to be in the closed Beta - The closed Beta is where a difference can be made.  I make no secret of the fact that I believe Socom 1 and Socom II to be the best in almost every regard.  I am a team player.  I like tactics and communication...somewhere between run n gun and camping.  My clan's motto was if it's in the game learn to play with it, against it, or on it.  I do not cheat or rank up and am respectful of other players.  I am 30 years old,  was married for 7 years,  and have a 6 year old daughter.  I supervise the legal department of an auto finance company.  A real Mon-Fri office job.  Yes, never would have thought haha.  I still make time to play....Socom II I had a total of over 2000 hours of playing time.  I was an active member with the E-SEALs website and their OPs.  I want to see Socom be the best it can be.  I am not looking just to play the game early....I want to be a part of helping the game be everything I hope it can be.  As of late, until the launch of Socom.com, I have shied away from the forums do to all the bickering.  Everyone is entitled to their opinion....and their likes/dislikes.  I have successfully been a leader of clan that was extremely active and would more often than not war 1-3 times a night.  Whether it was pick up wars or gamebattles.  I participated in the official Socom II tournament.  I bought the PS2 hard drive solely for the Socom II HD maps...Last Bastion was incredible.   I can promise that if chosen I will put 110% honest effort into the Beta and making it better for the community of players on a whole.  As a fan of the franchise I want to be a part of the team that helps make it all happen!  Thanks for the opportunity!

Hey Abigale, I was nominated on the phase #1 thread but I wanted you to know a little more about my Socom career. Well I have been playing Socom since I bought my ps2; it was my first online shooter ever. I still think it was THE BEST online shooter of all times ( at least to me ). Well as the years went by I played every Socom game that I had heard of (from Socom Fire Team bravo to Socom mobile) yet I am still a huge Socom fan. I still talk to my friends about classic moments I've had on this series. I have been playing this series for at least 5-6 years. I also have been in many clans over the years but I have found a great clan named Professional Skills, our website is www.proskills.us

Tell me in one paragraph why you want to be in the closed Beta

Why wouldn't I want to be in the Socom beta, I mean I really love this game. I haven't felt any other experience on the same level as one on Socom. This is Socoms first trip to a next generation console, and I want to be there to make sure the trip is 101% Socom style. I truly feel that this series is like no other, and I'm sure others do as well. I want to help with this game as much as I can, even if only 2 out of 20 things get changed ( not saying that this will happen ). If I were to be selected for the closed beta I would provide great feedback. I want to give the most feedback I can for this game to Slant Six, Socom is the best TPS of all times. I want this game to be the killer app it was during 2002-2005, this game set the tone for what online shooters should be. I think in order for it to dominate like it did in it's earlier years, it needs great feedback from it's beta testers. I feel that I can give the feedback that Slant Six wants.That’s the reason why I want to be in the closed Beta.

1. Since Socom 1, i didnt have it till long after the release date. I think i got it closer to the Socom 2 release date. Socom 1 was the first game i played when i got a network adaptor

2. I've played Socom 1, Socom 2, Socom 3 and im still currently playing Socom Combined Assault. Never played the PSP Socom games.

3. My clan disbanded a while back but we plan to get back together once Confrontation drops

4. I want to be in the closed beta to help the game get back its roots. Socom has been the main game i have played for the past 4-5 years of my life so i know mostly what i want to see in confrontation. I know what made old socoms good and new socoms....not so good. I've been loyal to this game clearly since i am still playing socom to this day on my PS3. So all in all i just want to see this game go down the right path. We want to see this game bring back all the old Socom fans that have been let down by previous Socoms, plus we want to bring in many new fans to the series. As long as everythnig is done right then we can do this and keep people playing for many years to come.

Are you in a clan? No because I don't play Socom anymore but when I did play I was in the same clan from SOCOM 1 to SOCOM 3.

Tell me in one paragraph why you want to be in the closed Beta: I have the experience, knowledge, and background of playing all of Socom's that were released on the Playstation 2. I can provide the valuable feedback in which Slant 6 will need to make this the best Socom. Also I want to be one of the few that get to play Socom Confrontation first on the Playstation 3. Being in the closed Beta will get me back in the SOCOM mood!

  • as you can see how the last socom game i have played is the 3rd one and not combined assault. Want to know why? Ever since that one, i have lost faith in the socom franchise. The game that I have spent countless hours on has adbandoned its roots and turned into a generic shooter with many useless elements. However since reading the article in EGM, I can see that there is a sliver of hope for the franchise. Slant 6 is reaching out for the original fans of socom and taking the franchise back where it belongs. I want to be present to give my support and suggestions to help take SOCOM back to the golden days.

• What SOCOM games have you played? 1, 2, 3, CA, FTB and FTB2; CA is the only PS2 game I play on my PS3 (mp #3 was a nice pullback into the franchise)
• Are you in a clan? yes - a group of friends (we do not have time for GB or other ladder sites - fun only)
• Tell me in one paragraph why you want to be in the closed Beta - I think my feedback from the S2 and S3 betas should speak for itself.  I'm not going to sit here and plead for entry into the beta or praise my worth.  The game's stability is what is important here, not my wants.
