Week 1 Yesss!! Demon's Souls breaks 100,000 during its release week! I'll keep this thread updated for at least the first 10 weeks. America - Week 1 = Total 105,752 Japan - Week 1 + Week 2 + Week 3 + Week 4 + Week 5 + Week 6 + Week 7 + Week 8 + Week 9 + Week 10 = Total 38,966 + 18.445 + 13,087 + 8,649 + 4,994 + 4,553 + 3,009 + 2,777 + 2,666 + 1,922 = 99,068 (around 140,000 lifetime) Source: http://www.vgchartz.com/games/game.php?id=31689®ion=All

I believe that Demon's Souls would have sold even better if it was more accessible. Hopefully Atlus keeps printing and more B&M stores see the demand for this title and stock it. I'm seeing a lot of "I called 20 stores before I found a copy", "I had to drive to the next city", and "everyone says out of stock" across various sites and boards. Atlus needs to get more copies out there before they miss the opportunity on this sleeper hit. chaosis wrote: I think this game is great, but in all honesty I think these numbers reflect on how starved the PS3 fanbase is for RPG titles....It feels real good to play an RPG title with an online element(even if it's somewhat limited), so much so that I opted for this title over Uncharted 2 this month. I mean I'm getting UC2 around the beginning of next month, as are a lot of my friends that have said and done the same thing. It's funny to see this title somewhat explode with little to no marketing from Sony when they pumped who knows how much into UC2 marketing which was guaranteed to be successful.

Just the opposite. If the game hadn't sold well in Japan (well for Japan, I mean), then it almost certainly would never had made its way here...

I disagree... Demon's Souls sold POORLY in Japan compared to Other titles Especially the Final Fantasy series....based on those number they could have easily said just forget it. However they took a chance based on the fact that the game had a western theme and It paid off. I agree with the other poster that they would have sold even better if the game wasn't so hard to find. Lets see how it develops

Congratulations to the World Champion New Orleans Saints!

ive played a lot of final fantasy games and i can't wait for final fantasy 14 but in my opinion demon's souls > final fantasy (except final fatasy tactics cause that game ROCKS). Its probably just for the fact that most finaly fantasy games are the same with a couple different tweeks and different plot lines :/
