these are for the PSP and not for the PS2 I recommend you get FFX and XII for the PS2 for the PS1 FF8 is not that hard to find unlike FF7 which is almost rare all these are great games.

Well since I don't know whether you are more in to sci-fi or fantasy, I decided to make this simple chart based on my personal opinion: Sci-fi Fantasy FF VI (PS1) FF IX(PS1)* FF VII (PS1) FF XII (PS2) FF VIII (PS1) FF 1, 2, 4, 5 (PS1)** FF X (PS2) FF Tactics (PS1 & PSP)*** FF X-2 (PS2)**** * contains SD characters so if you don't like SD this may turn you off from playing this game ** Haven't played much of this games but I think they are fantasy *** strategy-rpg **** sequel to FF X extra notice: 1,2,4-6 have 2-D graphics, 6 and below are remakes as well as tactics for the PSP SD = Super-Deform

fftactics is definitely not a good first time game for new final fantasy players. i chose this as my first ff game and it completely turned me off. you might want to try the games for the ps2 instead considering crisis core isnt out yet

Actually Billozy FF I and FFII are on the PSP and on the PS1 (2 game disc entitle FF Origins). FFIII is not on any PS system. FFIV, V and VI were re-released as well for the PS1.

I hate to be arguementive over what's clearly an opinion, but I found several FF story lines to be far better than FF VII's. Just because someone doesn't find 1 title out of a series to be good, doesn't mean they won't like any of the other ones. There aren't too many series that garner this much debate over which game is the best. Try a few different ones out and see what you like. If you like romance go with VIII or X. If you like politics go for XII. If you want a more Pagan view on the planet and life in general go with VII or IX. The first 6 titles are a bit more difficult to label. Yet despite being simpler stories and older graphics they were outstanding games and stories.

I started at VIII and was hooked after that, and it remains my favorite even today... ...but if you are a newcomer and want something that is easy to get the hang of, yet still encompasses everything that a Final Fantasy game is, I would go with Final Fantasy X. It's easy, fun, and a great game.
