Hey guys, I just downloaded the optional firmware 2.43 and the system actually seems more resposive. Anyway, I booted up Gran Turismo 5 and was browsing around the options when I noticed something interesting: When you uncheck the "Disable Advanced Downloading" it asks you to "accept" or "decline" In the past you used to get a warning message saying this feature would be enabled in a future firmware update. Well this message no longer pops up. I guess now we know what the firmware update did in addition to speeding up the XMB.

That's very interesting. I heard that the update really only applied to Japan, but since I have a Japanese account on my machine (I did it to get the Prologue demo back when we couldn't get it here State-side/North America-side), I figured I would download it anyway. However, since it looks like it positively affects how GT-Prologue downloads content (e.g., GT-TV, updates, etc.), then it looks like a good thing. Now, if only the fine people at Polyphony could find it in their hearts and schedules to get us some more content, specifically, tracks (Nurburgring and any others) and some cars (Ferrari California), then all shall be well. GT-TV is interesting, but I want some tracks, dang it!!! Even if it is just an up-rezzed version of the GT4 Nurburgring, I really am just dying for some more tracks to drive on. And more cars are always a good thing.

So what reasons are there for accepting this firmware update, or not?
