I tried deleting the files but it still doesn't work. I managed to begin the absolute first mission right when he gets off the boat and the audio dissappeared leaving me with visuals only. I tried to press start to go the menu and it all went dark. Restarted it and now my playstation doesnt even recognize the disk. No info about it not reading the disc either. PS: 40gb ps3

thats definatly a disc problem, get you disc replaced. opps..sorry for the DP, could a mod del this and put this into the post above? Message Edited by Blazin_arch on 04-29-2008 04:51 PM

60 GB owner here (720/1080 over HDMI) with a very expensive Frisbee. Game froze twice- first when in Roman's "mansion" before getting cellphone and second when in taxi shop before getting the mission there. Thought I'd just try multiplayer- no go, could not connect "try again later." I can understand the servers being slammed, but I'd at least like the single player game to work. After what I spent (yes, splurged for the limited edition. . . Funny- the duffel bag looked bigger in the pictures) and the delays in release, I guess I thought it wouldn't be too much to ask to actually have a functional product. I'm not as young as some of the players, so when I have some time off from work and want to game, by God I WANT TO GAME.
::stepping down off soapbox:: UPDATE: Well, got thru once to R* support, then got booted. Got through a second time, ditto. Now on third connection- so far still on hold, but when answered automatically was British voice and different company name (2K Games). At least the voice telling me "all of our specialists are busy at this time" is a sexy sounding lady Brit. Well, after 20 minutes or so of the same snippet of music playing on hold, a British chap (DARN!) picked up, collected some info on my PS3 system, TV and network and said they'd get back to me.
Boy, I sure feel better.
riiiiiiiiiight.

. Anyways, Im able to play for about 15 min before a lockup, so I play then reset.
