Playstation 3 20 gig, Dec. 2006 System Firmware Version 2.30 Free HDD Space: 11/18gig PSP Remote Play: Disabled after Full Reformat. Display/Audio Output (1): HDMI to DVI/Component Cable 420p and 720p Display/Audio Output (2): Composite Cable/Composite Cable (SDTV) I tried everything I could to actually Fix this problem, 12steps, switching off alot of options. Yet no good has come to my results. I'm pretty fed up with this problem. Message Edited by Cunder on 05-06-2008 11:30 AM

Nice job trying all the known workarounds and coming up with a few of your own! The last few times I've called Sony or Take Two I've offered to work as a "Guinea Pig" and mentioned that I have plenty of experience in testing, QA, and troubleshooting and the offer seemed appreciated but otherwise disregarded. This really frustrates me because I am offering services that would be billable at $50-100+/hr when in reality, I feel that Rockstar should be working overtime not only to resolve this issue but to find a way to compensate us for the time and frustration. I bought the game a week ago. I have spent multiple hours trying workarounds, calling support, searching online for information...and I have been unable to do anything with my time, energy, and money except watch a few seconds of cutscene and drive a block or two. I have seen more of the game in commercials and trailers than I have seen since buying the thing!! Okay, off the soap box... Has anyone thought of anything else to try or heard any news from Rockstar? I suspect that the only help we're going to get from Sony is offers to repair hardware and they might even be nice enough to extend warranties, but really what we need Sony doing is offering resources to Take2 and putting some pressure on them to get this fixed ASAP. The folks at 1-866-405-5464 are clearly Take2's Mushroom Garden in the U.K., I think if we can get past them we might actually get ot some actual information. If anyone has additional contact info for Rockstar (or perhaps SCEA/SCEE) please to be providing it so we can work together on this. Also, feel free to post your incident number(s) if you have them so we can track them together. Here's mine from Take2: Incident: 080429-000871 I'll look to see if I have one from Sony or not.

Add me to the list. I've tried everything. I'm so sick of seeing "turn off PSN and it will work!" NO it WONT!!! Waiting for a patch/firmware upgrade....this blows. Dec. 06 60gb with 30gb free space. I was talking to my dad about this, and he brought up the idea that maybe different EE chips have different firmwares that are causing issues with GTA. I dunno, just a thought.

Wow.. Total BS by Rockstar.. Anyway, the first time I installed the game I was able to play it just fine. I got up to First Date, saved, exited, went to bed.. Next day the game would freeze at the intro load screen. When I held down the PS button to quit game, PS3 would eventually beep and reboot. It kept doing this. I deleted GTA4 and the save files, reinstalled it, same problem but with freezing at load screen but it wouldn't let me even play it once like it did the first install.
PS3 rebooted and then before I loaded GTA4 I logged out of the Playstation network and then tried playing it and it loaded just fine and was able to play it, no freezing, etc. I've been able to do this the last two days in a row. I boot up the PS3, it logs into the Playstation automatically, then I manually log it off and load up GTA4 and voila, it runs. Last night I decided to try the multiplayer but was worried it would lock up. I went to the multiplayer option, it brought up PSN login screen since I wasn't logged in, I logged in and it let me play multiplayer. Soooo...
I think some games do not like being connected to PSN before the game is loaded. I know with CoD4 I also have a weird problem. When I load up CoD4 and goto multiplayer the menus screen pauses, and when I goto Find Game, it will sit at the Download Settings screen. It will sit at this screen and not actually get me into playing multiplayer in CoD4. What I need to do is stay in CoD4, goto the modem and manually turn it off and on. The modem then reboots, connection is reset. Then I goto Find Game, it brings up the login screen for PSN while I'm in CoD4, I login to PSN, and then the multiplayer rooms all pop up and I'm able to play online battles in CoD4. Every other game doesn't give me a problem with PSN logged in before the game is run except CoD4 and GTA4. Something to do with the 4s? :-b
