Xi GUIDE and Information Center In collaboration with WIXI What is Xi? Xi is a brand new area of Playstation Home that is the portal to an Alternate Reality Game. It consists of puzzles, challenges, short videogames and even crosses over into the real world occasionally, such as with the billboard scenario from one of the tasks. So far, it's been a resounding success, bringing PSN users from all over the world together in a huge collaborative effort to save the enigmatic Jess from so far unknown and shadowy enemies. How do I get there? Xi is accessed from the Central Plaza, via a teleporter disguised behind a piece of graffiti near the apartments:
How do I get started? Once you enter the Xi Hub, take a few steps forwards, and an audiovisual tutorial will begin. This will familiarise you with the layout of the Hub, and walk you through the first challenge to get your first map Fragment. If you get stuck, you can find our in-depth walkthrough for that mission here. Something is wrong with my Xi game! What do I do?At the top of the stairs down into the Xi Hub, on the left as you face the main room, there is a reset device. Activating this device will remove all your Xi progress, so it is a last resort. Before you do so, try leaving the Xi areas and returning, or restarting Home altogether.
I can't access anything from the Online Gateway! Help! This issue is caused by having a password on your browser. This prevents Home from accessing the browser! All you have to do is pop back into your XMB and switch off the password in your security settings.
Fragments What are Fragments? Technically, noone yet knows exactly what the fragments are, but they seem to be parts of some sort of map. They are almost certainly a clue towards finishing the Xi experience, and obtaining these fragments is the main goal of the Xi storyline. The Fragments Map In this picture, you can see the empty fragments map. Once a fragment has been added to the map, it becomes much easier to make out the boundaries between pieces. So far each piece has been awarded by completing the challenge listed in the Fragments section, and entering the resulting code in the HoloPAD.
"Initiation" Walkthrough - This fragment is for completing what essentially amounts to a basic tutorial section.
- First of all, enter the Xi Hub from the Central Plaza via this graffiti on the wall near the apartments (US), or near the waterfall (EU):
 - Once the Hub has downloaded and you have arrived, take a few steps forward. You will hear Thom's voice telling you about where you are, and a short video tour will follow.
- To begin your Xi experience officially, head down the stairs.
- Thom needs you to find some torn pieces of paper (even though the image on them is already painted over the floor!).
- The papers can be tricky to find; right by Staple the robot, by the plant pot on the far side of the Hub, and by the left pillar in front of the noticeboard:
 - Once you have all three, Thom will add AlphaAFK.com to your Online Gateway and tell you to go and complete one of Jess's puzzles.
- Note: If collecting all three fails to get Thom's attention as it should, you will have to unregister (top of the Hub entrance stairs, on the left as you come in) for Xi, and start again. Hopefully this glitch will be fixed soon.
- Head up to the gateway, open up AlphaAFK, and click on the big Puzzles button at the top-center.
- Select the first puzzle, "Odd One Out".
- Your task is to choose the image that has not been altered.
Eight and nine switched. Spots changed shape. Six and one should be on opposite faces. Nothing! Impossible pouring position. Earth and moon switched textures. Nine legs. Wrong colour. Upside down.- Once you have clicked on the answer image, which is the cat and fish, you will be taken to a new page that will tell you a code.
- Quit the Online Gateway, and head downstairs to the Holopads. Stand in one of the orange circles and press X to activate it.
- Select the Code Entry icon, and then enter 17PARIS as you would on a mobile phone.
- Finally, move over the green tick icon and select it to activate the code and recieve your first Fragment! Congratulations, you're hooked!
"Postcards" Walkthrough - Go up to the Online Gateway and log into Jess247.com using the password already entered.
- First of all, open up the Messenger and read through the chat.
- You should see references to a postcard, which is also referred to in the description of this challenge.
- The postcard image is found in the Images folder, then in the Postcard folder (obviously).
- Open it up, and you will see a picture of the Houses of Parliament in London, but with one thing missing.
- There is also an incomplete web address on the postcard.
- Adding the name of the missing landmark into this address gives us "www.bigbenuk.com".
- Navigating to this webpage (either on the PS3 browser, or on a PC, etc), will show you another postcard with a missing landmark, and a text box in which to type the answer.
- Once you have done this, there is another, and so on until you get the code. The images and solutions are as follows:
Arc De Triomphe Taj Mahal Hollywood Sphinx- Remember the code and head down to the HoloPAD to enter it.
- Type in MAGNUSMAGNUS and click the green tick.
- Hurrah! A second Fragment of your very own!
"Hexopolis" Walkthrough - Note: To complete this challenge, your Alpha Zone 1 teleporter must have been activated by completing the second Stapler challange.
- Enter the aforementioned teleporter, and get whisked off to the Alpha Zone 1 lobby.
- Look for two doors with energy beams crossing them. The right one is the entrance to Hexopolis, the left one is the exit. Don't go in just yet.
- When you enter Hexopolis you will have to complete six minigames within six minutes. Once you get used to the games, this will be easy.
- The games are listed below in the order that seems best to play them in:

Rejected Found: Directly ahead of the entrance. The aim of this game is simple, just catch the cows that fall out of the UFO. You need to be quite precise, but this is definitely one of the easier games.
Point of Sale Found: Beyond Rejected, over the bridge and in the niche. Simply put, grab an item from the left using the relevant button, and deliver it to the right customer. Memorise the items and their buttons, and this one is a breeze.
Sushiatsu Found: Back across the bridge and under/behind the staircase to the left. Alternate tapping the two buttons that appear aside the masseuse's head. Easiest if you hold the controller so you can hit each button with a different thumb.
Zombie Mall Found: Back around the staircase, up those stairs, and right onto the platform. No real strategy to this one, just avoid the zombies and grab the bags as fast as you can. Hitting a zombie will net you a pretty hefty time penalty though.
Pollen Found: In the middle of the landing, left from the top of the stairs. The easiest of the six. Fly over the yellow part of the flowers that flash up red. It will only count if you cover the whole of the yellow with your bee. Try not to go too fast as this'll make changing directions very slow.
Angry Mountain Found: Continue to the other side of the landing and halfway down the next staircase. Grab babies, avoid rocks. This is pretty tricky, but the penalty for getting smacked isn't too bad. Again, caution is better than recklessness. - A practise run to familiarise yourself with the layout and games is definitely advisable.
- It's important to remember that after each game, you need to let the control stick center before running off, or you won't move.
- When you're ready, enter the Hexopolis and keep that control stick at full tilt!
- Once you reach the exit in under six minutes, you will be given your third Fragment! Nice work!
"Maximun TILT" Walkthrough - Enter the teleporter to the Alpha Zone 1 lobby, and go through the door to the right of the Hexopolis doors.
- Enter the teleporters at the far end of this room in order to get to the game room.
- Choose a bike. As far as we know, the bike you choose has no practical effect on your performance.
- The game itself is simple:
 - Tilt the controller left and right to steer that way.
- Keep the helicopter center, and avoid the trees.
- Keeping the chopper centered for a sustained time nets you double points, which is pretty much essential for hitting the 25,000 point target.
Hint: If you find yourself approaching a set of trees that seem impassable, try wiggling the controller rapidly from side to side. This will, occasionally, help you to miss them. - Once the time runs out (top right corner), the race will end, and if you make the target, the Fragment will be awarded.
- You've got number four!
"Adventure Bandit" Walkthrough - Enter the teleporter to the Alpha Zone 1 lobby, and go through the door to the left of the Hexopolis doors.
- There is nothing to do in this room aside from access the game screen, so step up to it and do that.
- Pressing Square to read the introduction is interesting, but not totally necessary.
- First, familiarise yourself with the layout. Note the map in the bottom right, it's pretty useful.
- Head East and South to the town and talk to the guard. He will give you a lanturn.
- North, then East into the cave. Use the lanturn to light up your path.
- Go north to get a sleeping potion from the old man.
- South to get to an evil beast, whom you can poison with the potion.
- East to the guard chamber, grab the prison key, and use it to open the cell.
- Head inside the cell and talk to the peasant to get a triangular key, for a secret passage.
- Note: The stick that is in the cell can be used to hook back the key if you get stuck here.
- Now head all the way north to the armoury and pick up the small brass key you find there.
- Back south to the room with the water sprite, whom you can talk to to get a circular key.
- Now all the way east to the throne room, and north into the bedroom.
- Once there, use the small brass key to free the girl, who gives you the square key.
- Pick up the scimitar, head back to the throne room, and use it to kill the Bandit King.
- This will reveal the secret passage, so use your shaped keys one by one to open it.
- Walk in and talk to the dragon. He will, after a lot of talking, take you back to the cave entrance.
- Head south to talk to the guard, who will open the gate to the city.
- Go inside to finish the game, and unlock your fifth Fragment! Congratulations!
"Miguel's Secret" Walkthrough Go to CafeConMiguel and work out his date of birth. Enter it in the HoloPAD in the format MMDDYYYY.
These shirts are awarded on completion of this challenge!
- Go up to the Online Gateway and open up Miguel's blog.
- Here, in the post entitled "real life", dated 3rd August, we find the following:
Karel dragged me away from the console yesterday morning for breakfast and champagne, to remind me that I’m a year less young than I was.
- This tells us that Miguel's DOB is the day before this post; the second of August.
- Then, in another post, entitled "obsessed", we find the following:
So while my friends tend to think of me as that stay-at-home (yet stylish) tech-head who messes around with computers all day, I’d just like to say that I am a well-adjusted 23-year-old with an active social life and a healthy attitude to digital entertainment.
- This obviously gives us his age, from which we can work out his year of birth; 1985.
- So head on down to the HoloPAD and enter in the code as 08021985.
- Congratulations on recieving Fragment number six!
"Maintenance Room" Walkthrough - Leave the Hub, and go to Home Square/Central Plaza.
- Locate the Manhole Cover, and press X to access it. This will take you to the Maintenance area.
- Head through the decontamination unit, and turn left at the end of the corridor.
- Find the open locker in this room, and look inside.
- You will find the iDent card of William Johnson. Take particular note of his appearance.
- Exit the locker, and head down the other corridor until you find a door crossed with laser beams.
- In order to pass through this door, you need to make yourself look pretty similar to William:
 - This requires all his hair to be light gray, in the following styles:
  - You may also need to set his face shape to Type G, and his skin colour to the third lightest pink.
- If your impersonation is good enough, you will be allowed through the door.
- Head in, and go into the first room on the left.
- Access the security terminals, and cycle through them until you find the one with the "New Registration" option.
- Activate this terminal, and you will be allowed through the security door without having to look like an old bloke.
- This will also unlock your seventh Fragment! Congratulations!
"Crazy Cane" Walkthrough - Leave the Hub, and go to Home Square/Central Plaza.
- Again, locate the Manhole Cover, and press X to access it.
- Head through the decontamination unit, and turn right at the end of the corridor.
- Go into the newly opened room opposite the security suite.
- Access the controls on the far wall.
- The first task is to locate seven robot pieces from within a pile of damaged batteries using a magnetic claw.
- This claw can be moved freely with the analogue stick, and the time limit is generous, so it's pretty simple.
- The pieces are two arms, two legs, a body, a head, and a central battery. The last can be tricky to spot even though it's large, but it's the only piece that looks white and smooth:

Head Body Battery Arm (x2) Leg (x2)
- The second task is the same, except that the claw has only two axes of movement, controlled with the X button.
- First you move into the screen, then across it. It is important to look at where the dot is on the floor of the container, not on the conveyor belt.
- You will probably have to move at least one dead battery to uncover parts, so bear that in mind when dealing with your time limit.
- The third task is identical to the first, except for the massive increase in dead batteries.
- You will be doing a lot of digging. If you see one of the smaller pieces, go for that in preference to a big piece, as the latter are easier to grab.
- You can also make use of a small gap in front of the chute to dump excess batteries, but be careful that they don't roll into your proverbial basket
- The final task seems to be identical to the second, so just get stuck back in!
- If you fail one of the tasks you will be asked to retry. This doesn't mean the entire excercise, just that task.
- Congratulations! Fragment eight!
"Balance Block" Walkthrough - Leave the Hub, and go to Home Square/Central Plaza.
- Again, locate the Manhole Cover, and press X to access it.
- Head through the decontamination unit, and turn right at the end of the corridor.
- Enter the security terminal room, and access the terminals.
- Find the newly activated colour puzzle, and solve it.
- Tadaa! New fragment number 9!
"The Lost Note" Walkthrough - Head up to the Online Gateway and use access the Video Vault.
- Watch the video entitled "IMPORTANT INFO".
- You now know that your goal is to find a piece of paper hidden somewhere.
- Now head down to the HoloPADs and check your HoloMail. There will be a new message from Jachal.
- This message clarifies that the paper could be anywhere in the Home public spaces! A lot of searching to do!
- Search Home for the paper:
Region Paper Location (Highlight to reveal) EU Top floor of the Theater, on a rolling poster. NA Central Plaza by Listen@Home, stuck on the right-hand poster. - Once you have found the paper, note down what it says, and head back to the Hub.
- Open up the HoloPAD and input what was on the note (ETINARCADIAEGO).
- Congratulations! Your tenth fragment!
- Note: If you now go and talk to Stapler, he will give you a unique message:
"Alpha Zone 2" Walkthrough - Use the second teleport pod from the Hub to get the Alpha Zone 2, Light and Dark (it's the pod to the left of #1).
- Your task is to access each of the two aquaria, and complete the instructions within.
- The "Good Aquarium" is at the top level, furthest from the teleport.
- The "Evil Aquarium" is on the first level, directly in front of you as you enter.
- Tip: If you're having real trouble accessing the aquaria because of crowding, spin your camera down to look straight into the glass, and it should register.
- The Good Aquarium:
- First task is to eat food pellets: Stay near the top of the aquarium and drift left and right.
- You do need to hit the red pellets with your front end, at least, so be careful to do that.
- If you miss, just switch direction over the pellet, and as you flip round it should register.
- Second task is to to meet the zebrafish at the other end of the aquarium.
- Easy, don't bump into any fish as you go from right to left.
- You're looking for the stripy guy.
- Now do it six more times, three left to right, three right to left.
- Don't try to go too fast, and you'll do it easy peasy.
- Third task is eating more pellets. Against a time limit.
- Again, hover near the top, avoid clumps of other fish, and you'll nail it with plenty of time to spare.
- The Evil Aquarium:
- Task one is to get to the other end of the aquarium without taking too much damage.
- Similar to the sneaking task in the Good Aquarium, except the fish move.
- If in doubt, stick to the top or bottom, and swim right at top speed. You should just make it.
- Task two is to eat five pellets without taking too much damage.
- No timer, so find a spot with few other fish and just wait for the pellets to come to you.
- Task three is another six length swim, so just take it slow.
- Too much swimming to top-rush this one, so be careful!
- Watch out for fish in the long reeds at the bottom!
- Task four is a ten pellet munch fest.
- Camping isn't as effective this time, so I'd suggest taking a run at it. But be careful.
- Once the fish have escaped, press X to recieve your eleventh fragment. Huzzah!
"Puzzle 1 - 2" Walkthrough - Head through the teleporter to Alpha Zone 2.
- Walk up to the screens labelled 1 and 2, and X on the prompt.
- You may complete the games in any order, but I will list them numerically.
- Short Circuit:
- This game is tricky to get the hang of, but fundamentally very easy.
- Any squares without numbers in can be surrounded by any number of wires.
- You will never need to branch off into more than one direction.
- My method was to start at one wire terminal and follow the numbers.
- Binary Bulbs:
- This game is easy.
- First, note whether you are aiming for odd columns or even columns.
- Then, as you are going across, count the bulbs in the column.
- If this number is not the aim, flick the switch and move on.
- Do not attempt to compare the results of flicking the switch on and off in your head. The thought process is too long.
- Congratulations! Your twelfth fragment is unlocked!
Pictures of Puzzle 1 Stage 1
Stage 2
Stage 3
"Puzzle 4"Walkthrough - Head through the teleporter to Alpha Zone 2.
- Walk up to the screens labelled 3, 4 and 5, and X on the prompt.
- You may complete the games in any order, but I will list them numerically.
- Fireflies:
- You start off with three colours, and end up with six.
- Each round adds one extra flash to the sequence.
- Each time a new colour is added, the length is reset to three.
- My only tip, unless you have an extraordinary memory, is to write down the sequence, as it changes from game to game.
- Flashlight Jigsaw:
- For this challenge, you have to do a jigsaw by remembering the pieces.
- After completing each challenge, you get a preview of the next image, so don't skip through it.
- The tiles are randomly arranged at the start of each game, but the final images are as follows:
Thanks to BBurgSteve for noticing that image 4 was incorrect.
- For a super-hax way to complete this puzzle, highlight:
Once you have completed the first image, and can see the preview of the next, instead of pressing X, press Triangle. This will skip you onto the next puzzle, and can be repeated until you've done the whole thing.
- Shadow Match:
- Very, very simple. Just match the shadow to the shape of the figure.
- If you're really stuck, highlight to see the solutions: top, top, right, bottom.
Well done! Fragment thirteen turned out to be lucky for you! - Note: Today, you will also have recieved two HoloMAIL messages, one from Bigf00t and one from Veilcorp. Choose your allegiance wisely!
"Fragment 14" Walkthrough - Open up your HoloMail to see a message from Thom titled "Zoom".
- This message tells you what to do, and gives you the vital hint to solve the challenge*
- Head up to the Online Gateway and open up Jess247.com
- Open the IMAGES folder, and then ZOOM PUZZLE. Open the image titled "clue.jpg".
- This tells you that 1 + 2 + 3 + 4 = _ _ _ _.
- Obviously, this isn't a simple sum. It actually references the other images in the folder.
- Go back to the ZOOM PUZZLE folder and open up "1.jpg".
- In this image, there is a very tiny number hidden on the left-hand side; 250.
- This is your first number. Write it down.
- Open up image "2.jpg". A plate of sushi!
- The number here is on the rightmost item, along the edge; 120.
- Number two found. Write it down.
- Open up image "3.jpg". A butterfly!
- The number here is sideways, on the lower tip of the wing.; 630.
- Number three found. Write it down.
- Open up image "4.jpg". An ornamental garden!
- The number here is in the hedges on the left, made to look like shadows; 45.
- Number four found. Write it down.
- Now, add all of these numbers together, as the clue first indicated, to get the answer.
- Head down to the HoloPAD and enter in the code 1045. Green tick.
- Fourteenth fragment unlocked! Well done!
"15 Fragment" - Walkthrough - Leave the Hub, and enter the Maintenance area via the manhole in Home Square/Central Plaza.
- Head through to the security room, and access the terminals.
- Switch round to terminal HM-S3, and activate the console.
- You will be presented with a puzzle that requires you to join the input wire (bottom left) to all the output wires.
- You will do this using six different types of pipe; four junctions and two straights.
- Simply draw the least complicated map in your mind, and place the joints, then fill in the gaps with straights.
- If you're stuck, the solutions are as follows:
Pending- Complete all three of these puzzles (all essentially the same, with the blocking boxes in different places).
- Congratulations, fragment 15 is yours!
"Fragment 16" - Walktrough
- Leave the hub and access the Maintenance area.
- Head through to the elevators, and activate them to download Jess's Apartment.
- Once that's done, go in and upstairs, and wait for the video to load on the screen on the wall.
- Watch the first minute or so, and you should have the clue already.
- "Look out over the balcony" & "Under the stars, Il be there".
- Head back downstairs, and out onto the balcony under the stars.
- Look out across the water to the boat.
- There's something written on the side of it, which is our HoloPAD code.
- Head back to the Hub, and open up the HoloPAD code entry screen.
- Input CAPULET, and press the green tick.
- Congrats! Sixteen fragments are yours
Butterflies The butterflies are a secondary challenge for the most expert and interpid Xi adventurers. They are awarded by completing the challenges assigned by Stapler, and can be viewed in the HoloPAD.
"Nymphalis Californica" Walkthrough - Speak to Stapler, and select mission 1 ("Getting to know me").
- Stand in the dipped area in front of the Message Board.
- Use L1 to access your Emoticons menu, and select "Celebration > Clap".
- You will see a message pop up that reads:
What is the name of Jess's favourite band? (Miguel might know!) Enter the answer into the HoloPAD
- The hint leads us to Miguel's Blog, in the Online Gateway.
- Here, in the post entitled "a room of one's own", we find the following:
Even our illustrious leader has habits that can annoy at a thousand miles - she's had the same album on repeat all week ("Not Accepted Anywhere" - I'm saying nothing).
- This tells us the name of an album recorded by Jess's favourite band, and with a little research we can easily find out which artist it is.
- The answer, as many people will already know, is "The Automatic".
- So, head to the HoloPAD, open up the "Enter code" option, and type in THEAUTOMATIC similar to how you would on a mobile phone.
- Finally, select and press the green tick, and your first Butterfly will be revealed!
"Speyeria Diana" Walkthrough - Speak to Stapler, and select mission 2 ("A foreign language").
- Head up to the Online Gateway.
- Open up Jess247.com and log in using the password that should already be entered.
- Click on the Documents folder, and then on the file titled 010101.txt.
- This will open a mock text file containing the following:
VANESSA&a mp;#32;ATALAN& ;#84;A
- This is HTML ASCII coding, which, when converted to letters, spells out VANESSA ATALANTA (the scientific name for the Red Admiral butterfly).
- So, head down to the HoloPAD and enter in VANESSAATALANTA.
- Well done! Two butterflies!
"Agraulis Vanillae" Walkthrough - Speak to Stapler, and select mission 3 ("The big picture").
- Head up to the Online Gateaway, and open the Video Vault.
- Watch Jess's first video, entitled "BIGGER THAN WE THOUGHT".
- In the background of the video, you can see a Xi billboard with the letters "NY" and the number "5".
- This billboard is located in Waterloo Station, London, and there are seven more just like it in train stations across Europe.
- The rapid flashing images reveal the locations of the other billboards:
1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 Milan Italy Birmingham England Rome Italy Frankfurt Germany Waterloo England Barcelona Spain Madrid Spain Berlin Germany B AD AC SO NY TO MA J - Putting these short codes together produces the name of a small town in Hungary.
- Noone is quite sure yet whether this has any relevance to the Xi story other than the fact that it is a code. But it probably does.
- Make your way to the HoloPAD and enter BADACSONYTOMAJ.
- Congratulations on getting your third butterfly!
Extra Billboard ImagesImages sourced from AlphaZone4.co.uk
"Dircenna Klugii" Walkthrough - Speak to Stapler, and select mission 4 ("Co-ordination").
- Head up to the Online Gateaway.
- Access AlphaAFK.net and select the Puzzles page, then the puzzle called "Co-ordination".
- You will see six boxes, five of which have GPS coordinates in, and the last of which has a series of blank spaces.
- In order, these coordinates correspond to places as follows:
1 2 3 4 5 Sea Island, Georgia Gleneagles, Scotland Strelna, Russia Heiligendamm, Germany Toyako, Hokkaido- With a little investigation, we can see that these are all locations of past G8 Summits.
- Looking at a full list of these locations, the only one that fits the spaces in the sixth box is La Maddalena.
- So, head on down to the HoloPAD and type in LAMADDALENA to the code form.
- Finally, hit the green tick to aquire your fourth pretty butterfly!
"Urban Proteus"Walkthrough - Speak to Stapler, and select mission 5 ("Alpha Zone 1.5").
- Head through the teleport pods to Alpha Zone 1. DO NOT use favourites, or the "Expert" options will not appear.
- Note: You do not have to complete the games in any particular order, but I have to write them in one, so just go with it, ok?
- Head into the Maximum-Tilt lobby. You will be presented with a menu on entry, with two choices. Be sure to select "Expert", or it won't count for this challenge.
- You need to achieve a score of 25,000 again, as with the Fragment challenge, but the bike will be moving faster, making it quite a bit trickier.
Hint: If you find yourself approaching a set of trees that seem impassable, try wiggling the controller rapidly from side to side. This will, occasionally, help you to miss them. - For more help with this game, see the Fragment walkthrough.
- Return to the Alpha Zone 1 lobby.
- Enter Hexopolis, again selecting "Expert" from the menu that pops up.
- This time the challenge is one minute shorter, making it five minutes for all six games.
- The difficulty of the games is amped up, too, with time penalties in Zombie Mall and Angry Mountain being severe.
- For more help with this game, see the Fragments walkthrough.
- Return to the Alpha Zone 1 lobby.
- Enter the Adventure Lobby, selecting "Corrupted" from the menu that pops up. This is the expert level text adventure.
- As before, pressing Square to read the introduction is interesting, but not totally necessary.
- This time, you have some equipment at the start, including a Scanner that you will almost always have to use before you can find anything to pick up.
- Scan the body to find the card key, pick it up, then use it to open the west door.
- Head north once, scan the cleaning robot, and pick up the screwdriver.
- North again, and east. Pick up the locker to move it back into position, then pick up the air canister that was behind it.
- Now head round to the bottom-middle room. Talk to the technician, and "use" the air cannister to give it to him. You will recieve another keycard for your trouble.
- Head east to the bottom-right room, and pick up the holodisc. You can also pick up the memo, but it isn't essential.
- Now north as far as you can, then use the maintenance keycard to unlock the next room. Move into it.
- Scan to detect a hatchway, and an acetyline bottle. You can collect this bottle to give to the technician when we go past him, but again, this isn't necessary.
- Use the screwdriver to open the hatch, but don't go in yet.
- Now head all the way back round to the top-left corner, optionally giving the technician the acetyline on the way.
- Scan the laptop, use the holodisc and then the de-tox program to recieve a De-tox holodisc.
- Now we go back around to the top-right corner, where the hatch is open.
- "Use" the hatch to get into the CPU core.
- Scan the room to find a terminal with a holodisc drive, and then use the power switch to turn it on.
- Finally, insert the de-tox holodisc, and press X to continue.
- Congratulations, you've got the fifth butterfly!
'Hypothisis Lycaste" Walkthrough - Speak to Stapler, and select mission 6 ("Stop all the clocks").
- Head through the teleport pods to Alpha Zone 1, and go into Hexopolis.
- For now, ignore the time limit, and go and look at the clocks dotted around the room. You will see six, and their faces look like this:
      - Stuff
- The code is: BETACENTAURI
"Marpesia Chiron" Walkthrough - Speak to Stapler, and select mission 7 ("Turning Japanese").
- Leave the Hub, and go to Home Square/Central Plaza.
- Locate the Manhole Cover again, and head inside to the Maintenance area.
- Go through the decontamination spray to the locker room. Turn right.
- The center locker of the three to the left of the exit door has the combination lock.
- Press X to access it, and set the code 7979, using up and down to choose a number, then X to move on to the next digit.
- Interesting Note: This code was discovered early by me (followed by others), through random guessing, so we had a headstart on this one!
- You will be confronted by a series of Japanese kanji characters.
- Each of these characters represents a colour:
Red Sky Blue Yellow Green - Now head around to the room with the security consoles. One of the previously inactive ones is now active.
- Find the console which prompts you to enter a colour code to access your files, and activate it.
- Rotate each wheel to enter the colours translated from the kanji, in that order.
- Well done! This is your seventh butterfly!
"Euptoieta Hegesia" Walkthrough - Speak to Stapler, and select mission 8 ("A sentimental journey").
- Head up to the Online Gateaway
- Access AlphaAFK.net and select the Puzzles page, then the puzzle called "A Sentimental Journey".
- You are presented with a string of three-letter codes, and a named destination. If you didn't immediately grasp this, the triplets are international airport codes.
- They correspond as follows:
MSY Louis Armstrong New Orléans International Airport LPL Liverpool, John Lennon WAW Warsaw, Frederic Chopin MUC Munich, Franz Josef Strauss SZG Salzburg, W. A. Mozart- With a little brainwork, we can see that these are all musicians, so it isn't much of a leap to work out that we're looking for an Italian airport named after a musician.
- There is more than one, but with some trial and error we can narrow it down to Giuseppe Verdi in Parma.
- The code for this airport is PMF. Enter it into the text box, and click the arrow to continue.
- More codes, and another destination, this time somewhere in central France.
ORD Chicago O'hare International LIM Jorge Chavez International SAN San Diego Municipal Airport - Lindbergh Field LHV Lock Haven, W T Piper Memorial- A slightly more obscure link, this time... each airport is named after someone who achieved something in the field of avionics. For example, W T Piper is a renowned American airplane manufacturer.
- So, a similar theme is sought in France, and turns up St-Exupéry in Lyon, named after the French writer and pilot Antoine de Saint-Exupéry.
- The code for this airport is LYS. Enter it into the text box, and click the arrow to continue.
- A final set of codes, and a final destination of the nortern US.
PRA Parana YAI Chillan TAM Gen F Javier Mina MTY Gen Mariano Escobedo- Now, to be honest, the relevance of the first two has me stumped. Wikipedia has let me down. However, the last two are pretty clear; Generals.
- This leads us straight to General Mitchell International Airport in Milwaukee.
- The code for this airport is MKE. Enter it into the text box, and click the arrow to continue.
- This takes you to a page that tells you to combine all three codes consecutively, to make a HoloPAD code.
- So quit the Gateway, head down to the HoloPAD and open up the code entry screen.
- Enter in PMFLYSMKE, and recieve your eighth butterfly! Well done!
"Danaus Plexippus" Walkthrough - Speak to Stapler, and select mission 9 ("Nota Bene").
- Head up to the Online Gateway
- Stapler has said to access Jess second video, so go into the Vault and open the video titled "JESS CALLS IN".
- You can see a series of musical notes on Jess's shirt. This appears to be CCEGG.
- A quick google of this progression links us straight to The Blue Danube, by Strauss.
- This is an obvious colour link, so head on down to the HoloPAD, and type in BLUE.
- But wait! No butterfly yet! Instead a cryptic message from Jess:
Good work! But now tell me which color Newton says lies between C and D.
Jess
- A google of "Newton" and "color" brings up links to the following image, Newton's colour wheel:
 - You can see, in the bottom left segment, that C and D are labelled on the circumference, and that violet lies between them.
- Thus our second code for the HoloPAD is VIOLET.
- Stick it into the code entry screen, and click that green tick once again.
- Congratulations on getting your ninth butterfly!
"Colias Eurytheme" Walkthrough - Speak to Stapler, and select mission 10 ("Hmph").
- Head up to the Online Gateway.
- Go to the website http://3P424187.com
- Go to the HoloPAD and enter the code THOR888
"Vanessa Atalanta" Walkthrough - Speak to Stapler, and select mission 11 ("Look closely").
- Head up to the Online Gateway, and load up the Video Vault.
- Open and watch the video entitled "LOOK CLOSELY".
- The camera scans quite rapidly over some text.
- This text, once examined, reads "aurevoir".
- Exit the Online Gateway, and head down to the HoloPAD. Open code entry pad.
- Enter in the code "AUREVOIR" to unlock your eleventh butterfly!
"Papilo machaon" Walkthrough - Speak to Stapler, and select mission 12 ("The difficult quiz").
- Head up to the Online Gateway, and open up AlphaAFK's site.
- Return to the Puzzle page once more, and access the puzzle titled "Ignatius's Quiz".
- You will be presented with a list of questions to answer with the internets.
- All the answers are numbers, and you will need to assemble the red digits into a HoloPAD code.
1. How many Azteca Stadiums would you need to seat the entire population of Ljubljana? 3 2. The standard periodic table shows the abbreviations of 117 discovered elements. How many of those abbreviations include the letter 'a'? 16 3. How many years did the Hundred Years’ War last? 116 4. The Large Hadron Collider uses 6,300 superconducting filaments made of niobium-titanium. How thick is each filament, in mm? 0.006 5. What two-digit number is visible on the police car pulling away from The Bradbury in Blade Runner? 27 6. How would you express the number 95 in Base 4? 1133 7. How many times does the digit 1 appear in the first thousand decimal places of pi? 116 8. Write down the names of all the soccer teams in the English Premier League. How many letters of the English alphabet don’t you use? 4 9. Including black and white, how many colours does Piet Mondrian use in his Composition No. 2? 5 10. How many men have won the Nobel Peace Prize? 84 - This makes the code 3666736458, so head down to the HoloPAD and whack it in.
- Congratulations on your twelfth butterfly!
Butterfly 13 - Walkthrough Speak to Stapler, and select mission 13 ("Careless whispers",) - Check the HoloPAD for a HoloMail from the faction that you joined earlier.
- This Mail will contain a clue towards the order that the AFKers joined Jess.
- You are now supposed to go to Maintenance, and into the party via the Elevators at the end.
- This is so you can discuss the contents of other factions' Mails with other people.
- The relevant parts of each factions' Mails are below (from alphazone4.co.uk):
Genesis And if you see Jachal, just remind him that I joined alphaAFK right before him, so *I’m* his daddy. (From Bigf00t)
SpartaAFK I can’t even remember when I joined, but it must have been before 3lite, because I remember he arrived right before Ignatius came on the scene. (From Huffman)
Veilcorp In particular, be on the lookout for Elizabeth Huffman. Even though she was the fifth member to join the team, she has assumed a level of influence within the group comparable only to the original founder, Jess herself.
DemocraXi Miguel has been so smug about organizing this whole thing, but I know for a fact that he was the very last to join our merry band of testers, so he’s in no position to laud this minor triumph over us. Only Thom, who joined immediately after me, has patience enough to deal with that poseur’s posturing. (From Ignatius)
SupaAvatar It’s even weirder for Narcissus - Jess brought her into the team right at the beginning, straight after her, way before Ignatius and that bunch.
- If you use these clues to assemble an order of joining, you should come up with the following:
Jess Narcissus Bigf00t Jachal Huffman 3Lite Ignatius Thom Miguel- Using the first letters of each of their usernames, in this order, will give us the code.
- Go to the HoloPAD and input the code JNBJH3ITM.
- Congrats on your thirteenth butterfly!
Butterfly 14 - Walkthrough Speak to Stapler, and select mission 14 ("Beat it",) - Leave the hub, and enter the Maintenance area.
- Go through to the elevators, and activate them to access Jess's apartment.
- Go upstairs and watch the video.
- Also, on the left hand side of the upstairs area, there is a leaflet on top of the bar. View it, it will be useful later.
- Note: No one seems to know how to do this bit properly, but it was found by someone luckily viewing the singer's MySpace page as his view-count equalled the code.
- Enter the code 109-123 into the safe downstairs to unlock it.
- Congratulations on your fourteenth butterfly!
- Doing this will reveal a template, which goes over the flyer on the top floor.
- This in turn reveals the word ARETE, which goes into the HoloPAD.
- So, enter it, and recieve a HoloMail from Jess ^_^
