And there we have it, my furry friends. Dynamic duo Jak and Daxter really are coming back, and now it's 100% confirmed. No, this is not an April Fool's joke.
Via press release (and through the PS Blog too), SCEE has announced Jak & Daxter: The Lost Frontier for the PSP and PS2 to arrive this fall season. Picking up right after the events of the J&D trilogy, the story here will follow the two friends and their buddy Kiera on her quest to become a Sage.

Strange though. I was under the assumption that The Lost Frontier was previously rumored to be a PS3/PS2 game. Back in 2006, it was said to be a reboot. Guess the rumors were partly false then. Not that I'm complaining. Maybe Naughty Dog is still working on a PS3 J&D despite this too.
Oh yeah, year of the PSP indeed: LittleBigPlanet, MotorStorm, Dissidia, and now... Jak & Daxter too? All within the year! Aww, Sony, you make me all teary eyed in joy.
IGN Jak and Daxter's Lost Frontier Naughty Dog's most famous franchise could be in for a reboot. May 1, 2006 - As proof that "the establishment" isn't all bad, we can occasionally enjoy a little something known as "The U.S. Patent Office." With it, we can look up all sorts of cool and recently-filed trademarks and find out interesting information before companies decide to announce it. That's exactly what happened today as we came across Jak and Daxter: The Lost Frontier -- an all-new "real-time online networked game" whose title was registered by Sony on April 21. Because of the way in which the trademark office works, however, we're not quite sure what system this new mystery title is actually for. But given the fact that Jak developer Naughty Dog has been hiring lately for a dual PS2 / PS3 project that has yet to receive a name, it is possible (but not fact) that The Lost Frontier and the unknown project could be one in the same. Could a next-gen Jak already have his title? We contacted Sony representatives about the newly-registered title but were told, "As of right now, there is no official announcement regarding the title."
We also made attempts to receive a comment from Naughty Dog as well, but have yet to hear back as of press time.
For now, Jak and Daxter: The Lost Frontier still remains a mystery. Expect an update as soon as we hear something.
Wikipedia On April 21, 2006, a trademark was registered with the USPTO for "JAK AND DAXTER: THE LOST FRONTIER". The description given for the use of this trademark was "computer game software and video game software" as well as "operating an online real-time game for others over global and local area computer networks". When contacted by the online publication IGN about the game, Sony replied (1136 × 545 pixel, file size: 217 KB, MIME type: image/jpeg)stating "As of right now, there is no official announcement regarding the title" [1]. This statement can be taken both to mean that the title is in development and Sony wants to keep it under wraps, or that the title is just one of many SCEA is considering working on. Given that the launch of Sony's new console has already occurred, and should the game be real, a Playstation 3 exclusive release for The Lost Frontier is most probable. However, Naughty Dog was recently hiring programmers for a PS3/PS2 combo game, but it seems the combo game is really Uncharted, and it is now just a PS3-only game.
Pro-G.co.uk PS3 Jack and Daxter named The Lost Frontier The Buzz: Sony has registered the name "Jak and Daxter: The Lost Frontier" at the U.S. Patent Office. IGN reports that Jak and Daxter: The Lost Frontier could be the title of the first PlayStation 3 instalment of the Jack and Daxter series. The US video games site discovered that on April 21 Sony registered the name with the U.S. Patent Office, with notes that the game will be an all-new "real-time online networked game." What system the game will appear on is unknown, but series developer Naughty Dog has been hiring for a dual PS2/PS3 project that is yet to be revealed. As with pretty much all the news this week, expect more information next week during the E3 madness.

Not to sound rude, but since it was only patented, I don't think we need this thread. There is one use for it, though: perhaps people will actually read this, instead of posting a new "Jak 4 Game?" thread.

True, and, it may be to early to make 2 games at once but maybe it is the same team of people within the dev team. Then they hired more people to work on this and some of the same J & D makers. Still good to make a thread (for me and some others) to show people if it is a mistake or true.

I'm sure people caught on to The Lost Frontier a year or whenever ago when the news first came about. There are many threads throughout this board covering what is known so that the new members can get the lowdown on what's what.
The views expressed in this message are in no way the official views of SCEA and are of a personal nature. PS.com Moderating Team: Member first, Moderator second.

Yes, yet some people still don't bother to read, let alone see an actual topic. I do agree that he needs to take the "screen" out, though. I myself won't refer to this thread currently, however.

I expected this. I did take the screen out since it is not a screen from the game (if there is one). Maybe I should have waited for more info but since it is here, might as well leave it. (or get locked)

DAXRULZ wrote: Let's just let this thread live to talk about the possible future of Jak & Daxter. For instance, I was disappointed watching E3 at the Sony press conference when Naughty Dog DID NOT announce anything whatsoever. If not now, will Naughty Dog make their big announcement over the course of the last 3 days of E3? Or was it all just a lie? Better not be....
Well E3, unfortuneately, wasn't a big chance of hearing of a New Jak Game, plus I wouldn't consider it a lie.
