I was just wanted to see what other people think of the name "STEEL RAIN".

Apparently when Killzone was created, Gorilla were contimplating on using the name "STEEL RAIN" instead of "KILLZONE".

I personaly think Steel rains is a wonderfull name and reflects the dark gritty atmosphere of the game and sounds more original than Killzone.

Killzone Mother told me this on the PSP European forums a while back, LOL the reason he gave me this information was because I was wondering why was there and umbrella on the Helghast's Helmets and hats in concept art.

Trust me if you look at the some killzone concept are you will notice this, here are some examples.

Coo,  never knew what that was (thought it was a bit of humor from GG).... It sounds like a cool name for an artillery division.

I thought they were thinking of naming Killzone: Liberation; Killzone: Steel Rain

Not Steel Rain instead of Killzone

I remember seeing Motherh talk about it once, not sure though.

Neato find! Steel Rain sounds like a samurai game though. I never noticed those little umbrellas before.

Although "Steel Rain" sounds like an awesome name for a 1980s Heavy Metal band, I prefer "Killzone" as the title for the series.

For those of you who are unaware, a "Kill Zone" is a term which, in law enforcement and military actions, is occasionally used to describe one of two things:

1. An area of the body which, when shot, usually ends in a quick kill (between-the-eyes, etc.)

2. The area with the most casualties within the firefight

Obviously, the Killzone series seems to go along with the second "definition", and I think that this term works very well with the intense nature of the firefights within the games.
