First of all...id like to thank Gamesage101 for him saving the old thread's info.If it hadnt for him,id would've been making this thread all over again(not an easy job AT ALL).

Hello everyone,its about time someone made a Portable Ops info thread...well heeeeeere it is!.Enjoy!and make sure u post ur comments!

NOTE : This info thread needs a overview,if u PM me a good one...it will be added to the thread and you will be added to the credits and (most probably)topic name...you know you want to.

Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops,more known as MGS PSP...is the 11th Metal Gear game created by Konami.It will be developed by the creative and extremely skilled team at Kojima Productions...the game will be published by Konami.

Controls :
  • Square button will be used for Melee/CQC
  • Right Trigger(R) will be used to fire a gun
  • Circle bring up the inventory
  • Triangle works as the action button

The Facts :
  • Will be a 'completely new adventure for PSP that's story will be tied in with MGS3'.
  • Will be a interquel to MGS3 and the first Metal Gear
  • The new Ninja character is called 'Null'.
  • This was taken out from Kojima Production's internet site.The next paragraph is a bio of Gene who is the new knife-throwing character in Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops
"Appearing out of nowhere, Gene has taken command of a Colombian missile base, inspired its grew with talk of independence, and now stands as the new leader of FOX.

Armed with the latest evolution of Metal Gear, Gene threatens to launch a nuclear warhead into the Soviet Union in order to solidify the political stance of his visionary military state.

But unbeknownst to most of the players in this political theatre, Big Boss's presence in Gene's newly procured territory is no mere coincidence.

Another note on the page also points out that underneath his trench coat, Gene is also wearing one of those "CQC Enhancer" sneaking suit."

This creepy chracter is Python (calling himself the "Anti-Snake" , a member of FOX ubit and a former combat buddy of Big Boss. He may look like something out of Hellraiser, but this spikey warrior is actually one of the formidable foes Snake will have to face during his mission. After all, gamers expect surreal and supernatural boss encounters in any Metal Gear title, and if the sharp metal things coming out of Python's head are any indication, Portable Ops will definately not dissapoint in that area. We'd be willing to bet that the other members of the FOX unit aren't exactly normal soldiers, either.

  • Will take place in 1970,after Operation Snake Eater.
  • Raidenovich,EVA,Para-medic and Major will be playable characters
  • It will have Wi-Fi enabled multiplayer mode similar to MGS3 Subsistence
  • Players will be recuruited via the ad-hoc feature of the PSP
  • The player's performance at the single player mode will affect his online play
  • The FOX unit will have become corrupt.
  • MGS PO will have the option for you to recruit mercanaries in the single player game.
  • It is confirmed that there will be full cutscenes and voice acting unlike Metal Gear AC!D.
  • The main adventure in MGS PO is about Big BOSS trying to prove himself innocent.
  • MGS PO was originally going to be a seperate title in the series with no tie-in with the main series on the PS2 set of games.
  • The plot of MPO, where FOX becomes the enemy and (Naked) Snake must stop his former unit is very similar to the storyline of the first MGS, wherein FOXHOUND took over Shadow Moses and (Solid) Snake was sent to stop them.
  • There will be a new MGSPO if it sells well and gets critical acclaim.
  • The graphics will be similar in design to MGS3 but it will have lower texture resolution and lower polygon count.
  • Big BOSS will wear the Close Quarters Combat Enhancer Suit...
  • There is a possibilty of multiple MGS PO sequels if the PO succeds at consumer sales,Kojima stated in a interview with PSM
  • The concept of recruiting soldier to form a squad was heavily used and is influenced from The Seven Samurais
  • The PSP GPS system will be used by MGS PO...it is not confirmed how.Check out the previews and news section for more info.
  • MGS PO will have full voice acting and Roy Cambell...both of which were not included in Metal Gear AC!D.
  • In the last update of this thread...new pics revealed a completely new character who is rumored to be Gray Fox in his early days.

How these characters usually become available
With characters like Null and Major Zero you have to fully exit out of the game and to the PSP main menu screen once you have taken the steps to unlock them. Start the game and load your file and you should see a "New Soldier available" screen.



To get Null you have to tranquilize him in both of the boss battles you fight him in. He will then become available when you begin your second playthrough.

"SNS" (don't know what this means) = 60

The spies will come back with information that a map is in the town that shows where the Western Wilderness is. Get the map. Put spies in the Western Wilderness and rescue Snake. When you get back from that mission there will be information that a "handsome young Major" was sighted there and can be rescued. That's Raikov. (Not sure if this works on the first playthrough)

Place spies in the Hospital and wait for a little while. Once the Spies report that she has been spotted you will have to go to the Hospital and find her.

Go to collect him. However, if you are spotted by and of the Town guards Sigint will take evasive action and the mission will be a failure. If you fail the mission you can try again, you just have to be stealthy.
(It's recommended that you bring a cardboard box with you)

The super duper easy way to get Sokolov is to use the password SATURNV. Or, you can take on a side quest which begins in a mission to the harbor. Sokolov will ask you to bring him a set of blue prints. Apprently the blue prints are random for each persons game so plant spies everywhere and wait. Get the prints and wait some more. Reports will show up that Sokolov is in Town, go there and recruit him.

Ah, Ocelot. To unlock Ocelot you have to be near the end of the game and you have to have Sokolov. Go to the Ravine and Roy will call you sending you a codec number to call. Using the communication building in the Ravine you have to call him. To get in you need to find a small key located in one of the Ravine tunnels. Call Ocelot, beat the game, and he will join you.

To get EVA you need to have gotten Sokolov. Go to the Silo Entrance and interrogate the officer on the walk way. He'll mention seeing a man twirling revolvers in an urban area.  Abort the mission. Go to the top of the Airport and interrogate the soldier there who will tell you a codec number. Ignore it for now and go to the Security base to the room where the soldiers sleep. Open a locker and you will see the same codec number, and Snake will mention that he see's it. Then go to the Comm base and call Eva the same way you called Paramedic/Sigint. Eva will say she's coming in a week. In the mean time, go to the Western wilderness and recruit the Politician who is being held captive. This should trigger Eva's landing. Go the airport, to the third floor again and Eva will mention getting shot down. Go to the Western Wilderness again to the Cell where Raikov was and she will be recruited.

On a different note, I'd really suggest that you scrap the names because the title is far too long now.

However, it's nice to see that your thread is back up because I had to do the exact same thing for GameSage when his Jak X information thread went walkabouts. :smileywink:

There is no reason to have anyone's name in the title of the thread. Your name is listed as the author already, putting it in the title is egotistical and unnecessary.
