This happened to me in MLB 08 frequently but it occurs so much more often in MLB 09.. ill get a runner to 3rd and the pitcher will pick him off.. but i wasn't leading off of 3rd or anything like that.. am i doing something wrong? its really annoying

Had that happen to me a couple of times, but I don't know if I wiggled the stick just enough to get the pitcher's attention or not.

Try holding the left stick to the left until the pitcher is in his windup.  You will dive back to the base if he even looks your way automaticaly.
