In MLB 08 I was usually invited back to spring training. In 09', no matter how good my stats, I never get invited to spring training and wind up having to retire. Am I missing something ? I read the manual. Isn't there a way I can go to another teams spring training camp if my old team doesn't want me ? I was an all-star, hit .340 and made almost all my goals. I do turn off fielding and baserunning to speed up the games - would that be a reason for not being put on a 40 man roster? Thanks. It's driving me nuts having to start over all the time.

Hey thanks for the tip on getting invited to spring training. The problem is the season ends and when I find out I was not invited to spring training - my only option is to retire when I go under interactions. I usually sim thru post season and off season so maybe I'm missing something by doing that ? I also have it set so I don't play the field or run bases (to speed it up) and maybe that is hurting my stats to be considered for an invite ? What do you think? Thanks again.

All you have to do is Sim the spring training. After that is over, it will put you back into the Minor leagues and you can continue playing. I have yet to be invited to a spring training with my RttS players (except of course for the very first one). Message Edited by Boogat on 04-12-2009 05:22 PM

AUGGIEDAD wrote: just says your name and depending on how you did says something like he had promise or that his career was uneventful - things like that. Just to be clear - I have simmed the spring training and play a minor league season - then I do not get invited back to spring training no matter how well I did. I can't get into my 2nd year in the minors to eventually get to AAA or MLB. I sim the off season and then when I hit go to players next event I get a letter in locker room saying "in case your wondering - you have not been invited to spring training because you are not on the 40 man roster. I have retired about 10 times already and have to start over. I will try doing a SIM in stead of going to next event when off season ends and it's time for spring training. Thanks
its as simple as that, if they dont think your good enough to be on the 40 man roster there not gonna have you play spring trainin if they would rather concentrate on better players. And it doesnt really matter how good your stats are in the beggining of the season, its all about attributes. Yeah if you atrributes are close to what they want and your stats are amazing they may move you up INSEASON but not untill you start playing games. Usually in your 3rd year unless the players ahead of you are just a lot better, they should move you to the 40 man. Its all about have better attributes then the guys ahead of you. And when you dont get invited all you do is, sim all the game, it will stop you after the last game, then go to where you would click on scheule and hit end spring training. Then you will start your minor league games. Also maybe when you simmed the offseason did you not accept contract offers?

I was really confused about the whole spring training thing too. I started off at the Orioles spring training and they signed me to AA with a 3 year deal. I made it to starter in the AA club, led the team, and then was traded to the freakin' Mariners. I thought it was a death sentence, but it wasn't. I finished out the year with their AA team (West Tennesee) and then attended their spring training on my second year. They kept me for the 40 man and now I'm the backup third basemen for the Mariners. Should be getting the promotion soon to be the primary as my stats and my goals are doing well. I also bat 4th whenever I do play (about every other game or so). It's a weird game sometimes, but great nonetheless. Just keep playing those games, meeting your goals, and getting your stats up. You'll either be traded to a team that needs you or eventually get promoted.
