Brand new 40GB today, popped in game, same issue. Perhaps its a server side thing ? i tried connectng PS3 direct to internet with no router, no NAT, in between... no help.

I'm having the same issue also, and have the 60 GB System. Obviously, it's something related to being able to play online. Would not choosing to create a profile fix this problem too (versus disconnecting the system from the internet so as to play it offline)? If anyone has any solutions, I'd appreciate it.
