i don't know about you but an eyebrow or two went up when i read this. apparently Jessica Biel is the next in line to play Chun Li when Fox begins production on the new Street Fighter movie. you can check out the article @ IGN.com here's some food for thought, actresses Keira Knightley and Jessica Alba had previously passed on the role which takes Fox to where they are now. your thoughts?

That's a ridiculous statement. You're saying that the producers and/or director of a movie can't change the ethnicity and/or appearance of a character on a whim? You need to think before you make an arrogant statement like that.

There's nothing arrogant nor ignorant about that statement at all. I agree with oppinoy 100% (Wow, did I just say that? LOL ) I have nothing against diversity, but to totally take away her ethicity is wrong. I'm black yet I had a problem with Kingpin being black in the Daredevil movie. Wilson Fisk is a major character in Marvel's unverse. The powers that be had no good reason to make the character black simply to have a reason to draw in black patrons. How are you going to have her named Chun-Li, yet be a caucasian woman? Does that even remotely sound right to you? So yes, the producers and director do have the right to do such a thing, it doesn't mean it will go over well with their target audience. It will definitely alienate people of the Asian ethnicty. There are good Asian actresses who can fill the role without making CHUN-LI caucasian. Just my opinion.
Brushes with death are like snowflakes. Each one is unique and icy cold.

That has absolutely nothing to do with what I said. You know that I'm all for realism and accuracy. If the character was written as a certain ethnicity, then it should hold true. But to make a blanket statement ended with "'nuff said" like there's no possible way it can be discussed on any level JUST BECAUSE YOU SAY SO is the highest form of arrogance there is. Nothing anyone can say will make a bit of difference once a script is in the hands of the producers and directors. They butcher films every day with no regard to how it was written, or what the source was. Was Raiden cast as an asian in Mortal Kombat? NO. They cast Christopher Lambert because of his box office draw. Did it ever stop John Woo from filming something so completely inaccurate that it's not even remotely in the realm of possibility? NO So how can someone get away with saying "NUFF SAID" to end a discussion just to punctuate their opinion? oppinoy doesn't usually make stupid statements like that. And it has nothing to do with the subject of Biel or anyone else being cast in a role meant for an asian, because I am definately in the side against that happening. WE'RE TALKING ABOUT THE FILM INDUSTRY.
