With a ton of people saying that they are having alot of trouble of pwning on CS, I decided to make a guide to help everyone get better . These tips only apply to Source, not 1.6 as I haven't played 1.6 in over 2-3 years. Every one of these tips has helped me at least in some way.
Basics-
- Shot placement is everything. As you figured, GO FOR THE HEAD!!
- Turn your Gamma up on your monitor, or go into Brightness and mess with it. This helps especially on darker maps.
- Look around on www.game-monitor.com for Deathmatch games. Deathmatch is a fast paced, hardcore type match style. At the beginning of every spawn, a menu will come up (i.e.- 1. New Weapons 2. Previous Setup 3. 2 and Don't show again). This is good because you can experiment with all of the weapons easily and you don't have to wait around and spectate if you get shot, because you auto respawn.
- Don't spray fire. It's unaccurate, and there is a low chance of you hitting your target.
- Crouch and fire in a gun fight. It does wonders for accuracy.
- Jumping= pointless. People can track exactly where you'll land and get the killshot every time. Dance around with random buttons and let loose on them.
- Knife at your own risk. It is a risky move, but you can really embarras some noob with it.
Weapons:
Pistols- Sidearms. Use them for humiliation, accuracy, or when you're just plain out of ammo in your primary. Best kinda depends on your preference
- Glock 18
- H&K USP .45 Tactical
- Sig P228
- Desert Eagle
- FN FiveseveN
- Dual Beretta 96G Elites
Shotguns- Gods at close range. M3 is my personal favorite because it has a bit less jump and recoil.
- Benelli M3 Super 90 (pump)
- Benelli XM1014 (auto)
SMG- Extreme rates of fire, don't ever bother at long ranges. Amazing at close range, but are a bit jumpy. The TMP or the MP5 are my absolute favorites because they are almost perfect imo.
- Steyr TMP
- Ingram MAC-10
- H&K MP5 Navy
- H&K UMP45
- FN P90 (warning, super unaccurate, fastest rate of fire in game)
Assault Rifles- FAMAS has performed pretty good when I use it, the M4 is awesome too, especially for HS. Just depends on preference perty much .
- IMI Galil
- FAMAS
- AK-47
- Colt M4-A1 Carbine
- Sig SG-552 Commando
- Steyr AUG
Sniper Rifles- The most popular category in the game. God in the hands of a pro, crap in the hands of a noob. Complicated but have a good advantage.
- Steyr Scout
- Sig SG 550 Sniper
- H&K G3-SG1
- The god of them all- The AI Arctic Warfare Magnum. AWP (1 Hit kills, people like to whore this around alot, so watch out for them. Very amazing and useful gun for when you start scrimming
Machine Gun- Not much to say about this except I hate it. Huge Rate of fire, major recoil, lots of ammo, very long reload, unaccurate. Use only if you are camping bomb plant or something. Honing your skills-
Start your own server, just you, and shoot at walls with many different weapons to learn how they fire so you can get used to them. If you're not very good with standard crosshairs, go into the console and enter "cl_crosshairscale 9000". May be too small for some, but it's awesome for me. Experiment with the closing numbers to find the exact one you like.
This is pretty much all my tips I can think of, I will edit it from time to time with anything you may need help with. PM me if you want with tips .
