Before I buy the adapter, how would this connect to cable internet. The cable runs from the jack to a modem then to the computer. How could I connect? Would I be able to screw my cable into this adapter? Or would I need to do something else?

On your cable modem, there should be a port that looks like a large phone line. This is the port for the CAT5 cable. If your pc is in this port, simply unplug it from your computer into your ps2 in to the 'ethernet port' on the network adapter, do the setup, you'll be online. One more thing, once you have everything in place, make sure your pc, and ps2 are off, and unplug the modem for about 1 minute (resetting)

I don't know about your cable modem but i have to un plug then plug in my box for it to work before using the adaptor online.
