If you are reading this, then most likely you are like me, sitting at home with a PS@ network adapter, with a Shaw cable connection, SOCOM in your PS2, and unable to connect to the freaking network.

I don't have any miraculous solutions, but I do have some info, hopefully those who read this can share other information and maybe we can figure out a way to make this work.

I have to talked to Sony and Shaw and they are both saying it is not them but the actual game itself. Also, they say it MAY be possible to connect using a router, but I wouldn't bet on it.

Also, apparently Sony and Shaw will be meeting soon to try and figure out what the exact problem is and there may be a possibility of Sony releasing a patch disk so that we can connect using our Shaw modems. I am not sure how we, the users, would go about getting this disk however.

Telus is apparently having more sucess connecting than Shaw is, if you were thinking about switching, this may be that extra incentive.

For any of you who have had sucess connecting to the online gaming with SOCOM and are using a SHAW modem, please replay to this post and let us all know how you have done it.

Thanks
Kudos!

I think everyone is having problems with Shaw. I use Shaw, so I'm anticipating a big hassle when the stores here in Calgary finally get some NA's in (if they ever do) and I buy mine. I use the GameFAQs.com forums, and everyone there with Shaw is having problems too.

I had to go buy a linksys 4 port router...once this is connected and you connect from the router into your PS2 network adapter you are able to connect online. This appears to be the only option for now.

I spoke to Sony and they said that they do not plan to offer rebates to customers who have had to go out and buy a router to connect.

Hopefully they fix the problem soon so that I can take back this router and get my money back

I have Shaw, I use a Linksys 5 port hub, and I hooked up the Network Adapter

with no problems at all. I needed it to play Halo online,

so I had it on hand anyways......

I also have an extra Network Adapter, sealed in it's original case,

if anyone wants it, let me know.

I live in Calgary, by the way.....

Alrighty, I use 98 SE as a OS. On a hub of 3 comp connections and 1 PS2 Network Adaptor. First choice was a router, But what I had done was. Swtich connections from my comp into the slot that had no ISP and the PS2 to the comp slot I had. Now.. THis is where we get down to bussiness.. I went to winpcfig, Did the setup screen for the ISP in the NA settings off of my comp.. When I finished doing it manually, I Switched connections on the hub. And it works fine! I GOTS SOCOM, Username, SilentSavior. First I setup the NA without manually inputing the ISP settings. And it didnt work, because I did it automatically with it haveing no ISP. Now no worries, HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
