the area behind it to be significantly hot after playing for a few hours? I know it's obvious why, but I'm kinda worried about it. Is this normal?

Also, did you get a stand for it? I wonder if it dissipates heat better but then someone brought to my attention that it says in page 6 of the manual: <i>• Do not set the system other than in the horizontal position.</i> Can anyone shed some light on this?

I put my PS3 on some blocks, and it's a bit cooler than it was before. Yes, the PS3 slim getting hot in the back (especially the HDMI cord right at the HDMI port IS NORMAL, for the slim anyway.

Oh and, do folding at home, and take out the HDMI cable for a few hours. You'll be surprised at how cool the system becomes in comparison to when you have the HDMI cord plugged in.

They're wooden blocks at the sides, under the PS3 for elevation. They're about an inch in width, and about half an inch high and about 4-5 inches long (or more). They raise the PS3 system so much, that the dresser underneath is now cool rather than hot.
