I haven't experienced anything, as of yet...and I've watched both DVD & BD Movies, without a single hiccup...but, if it's a glitch, well, it may not be a system wide kinda thing, since a lot of people have the problem, and others don't. . . . but, we'll see what the March Update will be all about...

That's true...So, like the PSP, I imagine there will be 1.51 coming out pretty soon...!!! And, then 1.52....but, hopefully when and IF that does happen (since the can choose a different number) it'll be in March and that 1.51 fixes the bug in certain people's systems. . . .

I have the same freezing issues - tried watching Jay and Silent Bob Blu-Ray (brand new from package) on 60GB unit and had about 3 freezes of 10-30 seconds each. Had zero issues with Blu-Ray playback prior to 1.50. I have not yet tried to disable my internet connection - but will try to see if that helps during move playback. I am connected via 802.11G WEP.

Has anyone been calling Sony about the problem (1800-345-766)? If not, please do.... maybe this will help raise awareness of the problem and drive a quicker resolution. I just called in, and got a canned soft reset recommendation which was obviously not tied to the issue. But perhaps if they get a lot of calls on this they'll get the message and we'll get a firmware update sooner. Blu Ray's success is tied to the PS3, so presumably someone at Sony should care about this. Any evidence that they monitor the forums?

ok now im wondering if I should conect my ps3 back up to the web. I never got the 1.50 update. I love blu-ray movies You guys have got me worried  If I hook back up to the web do they force you to update or can I keep what I have ?

here is the solution that worked for my co-worker. 1a) if using the bd remote, turn off all controllers while watching dvd/bd's. 1b) if using wireless controllers, turn off all but one controller while watching dvd/bd's. 2) you should also avoid bumping/jarring the remote/controller you are using to control the dvd/bd.

I agree, we should all call Sony (1-800-345-7669) and make them aware of the problem so they realize the number of customers this issue is affecting and THEY can fix it ASAP. We shelled out $600 big ones for this console and were loyal to buy the console as soon as we could get our hands on one, we should not have to rig the PS3 by making sure we have our controllers off and the wireless setting is set to work only on Tuesdays and the sun has to be shining and it can't be colder than 30 degrees outside then our Blu-Ray reader should work properly. Everyone reading this that has had an issue with their Blu-Ray player after upgrading to firmware 1.5 call 1-800-345-7669 and explain the problem to Sony and hopefully they will provide a concrete fix to this bug in the new firmware ASAP. |
