For some reason, Sony has reversed their PSN CAD-USD price policy. What the hell happened here??? The Canadian and American dollar are still at parity, yet prices have been drastically changed... I thought we were making some progress?!?

Here's a few of the disgusting price adjustments:

Rockband - "Attack" - US: $0.99/CAN: $1.99

GH3 - "Antisocial" - US: $2.49/CAN: $3.49

NFS: PS - "Dodge Viper SRT10" - US: $2.99/CAN: $3.99

Sony - this is simply unfair. I'm a diehard self-admitted Sony fanboy, but I would really like an explanation..

Btw - before flaming, please read my original post below, where I praised Sony for being the first gaming company to recognize parity. I just want Sony to revert back to parity, that's all. (I still love my PS3 :smileyvery-happy:)

Dec. 18, 2007:

On behalf of Canadian gamers everywhere, thank you Sony!

Last week, Sony finalized PSN parity by launching Everyday Shooter at $9.99 for both America and Canada. That was a huge step in the right direction.
Now, the 80GB PS3 and 40GB are being priced at $499 and $399 (respectively) for both the U.S. and Canadian markets! This is unheard of - not only in the gaming market, but in nearly every market there is.

Proof can be seen at any major retailer's site:

No word on price corrections by Microsoft or Nintendo at this point.

For those who didn't know, Canadians have been paying roughly 7-10% more on our gaming purchases for the past 4 weeks, despite having an equal dollar.
Sony could be the catalyst that changes other industries, such as the vehicle market, where Canadians are still paying 20+% more for our cars.

Sony didn't have to do this, and I think they should be recognized for being a pioneer in fair pricing. So, this thread would be a great place to simply say thanks!

THANKS SONY! What the hell Sony?

Technically, CAD is worth nearly 3 pennies more per dollar now. Damn Sony ripping off Canadians!! Just kidding, parity is nice enough.

Good. However, it must be noted that when the first price drop came to the 60GB unit in July, the PS3 price was actually lower in Canada than the United States in USD.

They're a fair corporation in terms of international pricing, particularly in Canada. The same can't be said across the board however, as the Australian market is priced rather unfairly but it takes into account many more expenses, such as additional freight, duty, taxes, licensing and media rating to name a few.

Canada and the US share the same rating system and distribution chain, so the only difference in price should reflect the exchange rate and applicable taxes.

I cant wait to see the 40GB launch at 399 CAD

Kudos!
