----DO NOT USE THIS METHOD FOR PS3 SLIM---- And the solution is...

Car Wax (Turtle Wax recommended but any Car Wax should work. Bar or Liquid doesn't matter.) Stop wasting money buying fancy plastic polishes! It totally takes all the scratches away! ( Don't expect a miracle though. ) I'll show you what to do: Read this all before trying it out, otherwise you could MESS UP THE LOOK OF YOUR PS3.
- First get the car wax and the sponge that comes with it.
- Apply it to the PS3 making circles. ( IMPORTANT: Don't let the wax touch the letters of "PlayStation 3" or let the wax go inside the crack that divides the cover from the chrome cause when the wax dries its gonna stick to the crack/letters and you could mess up the look... ( It's ok if the wax touches the chrome but don't let the wax go inside the crack). Then again if you have a 40Gb PS3 then you don't have to worry about the letters cause they don't have depth. )
UPDATE: Carfanatic replied something usefull: "The easiest way to make sure you don't get wax in the crack between the top and the chrome or in the Playstation logo is buy some scotch tape. It is about the perfect width if your using the skinny type tape and it is made of course to peel right off and leave no residue behind. Use the tape cover the logo and the crack then you don't have to be so careful applying the wax the more you can work it in before it dries to a haze the better job it will do filling in the scratches."
- Wait for it to dry ( 20-60 minutes aprox. ) Basically the more you wait the better it will look. Personally I recommend leaving the wax dry all night. For optimal preformance leave it for 24h ( Thats what I did ).
- Use a smooth towel or micro-fiber cloth like the ones you use for glasses or the TV cleaner to take off the wax ( apply some pressure, if the wax is way to dry you may use a humid micro-fiber cloth to remove it. ) and you'll see how its gonna look like new.
- The turtle wax is gonna take off all the scratches ( But remember... Car wax attracts dust so the first week after you apply the product make sure to keep cleaning the PS3. This is the only con about this method. After 1 week, insted of attracting dust it will start to repeal dust ) and prevent future scratches just like what it does when you apply it to a car.
- From now on you will only clean the PS3 with a micro-fiber cloth.
I've also heard this works for CD's. I haven't tried that out yet, but I suposse it would work. If you want to try this remember NOT to do circular motions. Clean it from the center to the end. Pics:

Notice that the wax is not touching the letters. ( the camera flash makes it look even more scrattchy ).

To remove dust use compressed air or a vacum. Try it out! Coments and Kudos are welcomed.

Yeah I mentioned it about a week ago, and everyone flamed me because turtle wax is for cars, not plastics!! That's why I love the internet, the inept can get together and become an inept mob on the internet.

I havent even thought of this, gonna try it out, althought I really don't care too much on how it looks rather than its performance, but a shiny new-looking PS3 is always a bonus!

Chrispy808 wrote: its wax. I am saying it should work. I used to do the same to my CD's. basically it creates a clear filling on the surface and fills in the cracks so light isnt reflected. works great of cd's and dvd's. but you need higher grid sandpaper for the deeper scrathches 600+ wet dry
??? you use sand paper on your CDs???
