I have no warranty and my one year manufacturers warranty is up. I've never needed to fix any of my gaming consoles (Nintendo,Super Nintendo, Nintendo 64,Playsation 1, Playstation 2) so I didn't think I would have to ever fix this one. I had never heard of this problem before until I got it. It sounds a lot like the Xbox 360's Red ring of death. The thing with the Xbox 360's red ring of death though, is that I believe they have taken full responsibility of their mistake and have replaced those systems with brand new ones. The reason for this is because a group of Xbox 360 owners got together and took Microsoft to court and won. They were able to prove that Microsoft knew about this problem but did not do anything to address the issue. This kind of sounds like what PS3 has done. So maybe if we could prove that Sony knew about faulty PS3's then we could do the same. Anyone interested in doing something to get these PS3's fixed.?
sounds like ur ps3 has overheated. take it out, get a low powered vacuum and suck some dust out. after that, put it in a place where it will ventilate properly. wait for a while and restart the machine. see if it works after

Alright alright. I'm sorry, but YLOD doesn't mean its overheated. It means that the HDD is corrupted or something inside is fried.
