Just out of curiosity, have you played Killzone 2 or Resistance 1/2? Those are pretty good FPS exclusives. Although, MS' specialty is shooters, what can you expect? Their controller is built along the lines of one ideal for shooters. That's probably what brought them back into the market; the fact that they can pull some FPs' out of their back pocket.

software feature: more detailed psn profiles along with 1 built in party/ cross game chat for all games. hardware feature: two HDMI outputs for dual displays. for example, 1 tv will have your game playing and the other will have your friends list, one touch access to your in-game music player, and stats for the game your playing and the ps3 system its self. How about a feature that periodically checks both your disk based games and your psn games and would say "You have x updates available for x games. Perform background download?", similar to how Apples iPhone checks for updates for installed apps. I'm annoyed at the current state where I'm ready to play x game, but I can't because I have to download a moderate/large update that'll take 1-2hrs (low-cost broadband), which in turn kills my mood to even bother playing (ex. MvC2 and it's recent 200MB update).

Solid idea. I like it. If you're a MAG beta tester, you would really like this idea. Updates for the beta are upwards of 3gb and you can't "cancel" the download once it begins. People have waited 5+ hours for it to finish; some even longer. Granted, it is a beta afterall, so it probably isn't relevant, but, this makes me think of it.
