My system has suddenly stopped loading disc suddenly!! One minute I'm playing Uncharted 2 2hrs later the system won't even read any of my disc. I tried different games and dvds (don't have blu rays) and I tried the system restore option, still nothing. Is there anything else I could try before sending it in?

have you tried cleaning the lens in the system with a lens cleaner? this is usually the best place to start in trying to figure out why it won't read the disc. i highly recommend using the Maxell Bluray Lens Cleaner though because it is the only one i know of that doesn't touch the lens, which is important with a bluray lens. also, can you hear if the system tries to spin the disc over or not?

my brothers just did this, kind of frustrating. So at least he has a bunch of download titles but still... I'm hoping for something to fix this and I have no problem tearing electronics apart to get them to work either...

well if cleaning the lens doesn't fix the problem, chances are the bluray drive needs to be repaired. now if you are inclined in taking electronics apart, the obviously cheaper method out of warranty would be to replace the broken part(s) yourself

The exact same thing happen to my 80GB PS3. It doesn't spin any disc and won't load any games, DVD or blu-ray movies. I've tried clean the lens but to no effect.

well using that maxell drive cleaner how would it even work if the ps3 won't read the disk. Would it work just because it will spin the disk. Oh and the blue ray drive was incredibly loose in the ps3 weird...

when the laser lens fails in the system it won't spin the disc over because that is what recognizes the disc. it might spin it for a second to try to read it. it should at least try to spin it over breifly. if not, it could be one of the cables that hook to the bluray drive are loose or broken, or maybe the deck that spins the disc is bad. if you attempt to fix it yourself, you might want to buy the laser and the deck, because it is only $10 more than just buying the laser.
