For those of you that are interested, the PS3 does not have a hardware analog scaling chip.  This means that PS3 will never be able to upscale.  It will only be able to display native resolutions.

This includes upscaling of games, as well as DVDs.   However, Sony has the solution for you!

This will upscale any signal up to 1080i.  It was designed with the PS3 in mind.  Plug your PS3 into this.

You call spending $1500 a solution? Wow, only a fanboy would call that a great solution. Here, spend $1500 to go along with your $700 ps3 to make it work right, on the tv you may have spend over $1000 on already. If i was gonna spend another $1500, it would be on a tv that might actually work with the ps3.

No thanks Sony, Im not gonna just blindly dish out extra cash to add features that should already be in the PS3.

What makes you think it requires a dedicated chip to upconvert?
