I don't think so. At least what was stuttering before is stuttering now. That fw update should be just about picture album and the last DiVX format.

it is stuttering because of interference with other wifi networks.  i had the same problem.  change the channel of your router.  by default it is channel 6.  try channel 1 or 11.  i cant believe the difference it made for me.  never stutters and i can fast forward and rewind my divx files at 120x now with no problem

Its not network interference and divx files have always worked ok. Its AVC profile H.264 MPEG-4 files that have the problems (ipod/iphone/apple tv/itunes friendly files)

it doesn't appear so, i've tried using both MediaLink (http://www.nullriver.com/products/medialink) and EyeConnect (http://www.elgato.com/elgato/na/mainmenu/products/software/EyeCon
nect.en.html
) and neither of these seem to support this feature.

If you're on a Mac I believe the new version of twonky supports transcoding. I'm going to try it out later.

Or MediaTomb does but I've had a look and it doesn't look very easy to install and set up. I think most Mac uses are still holding out for a native version of TVersity. Or back to the Halcyon days pre 2.2 when MP4 streaming worked just fine.

*sigh*

That could be because they think that PS3 supports the format natively, so why transcode. TVersity can transcode on the fly. You can instruct it to transcode always, or if necessary (if the device doesn't support it). I think you could also hack its config files to transcode specific formats even if they are supported by the device. But transcoding option isn't fun either because the transcoder can't catch up with higher speed fast fwds and rewinds.

Only Java PS3 Media Server: http://ps3mediaserver.blogspot.com/
Give it a try. It's not very stable, but it allows to stream web radios and tvs as well.
BTW: am I the only one that after fw 2.60 has problem getting the <SELECT> menu working when playing music?

what do you mean the SELECT menu?

1. Just start it and browse it. There are a couple of examples. To add them you should modify the file WEB.conf (I think).
2. Not exactly a menu. It's the one showing the song name, length and stuff. It takes a couple of minutes to show up, now.
