I updated today... and have poor results. Videos seem fine to begin, but after 15 or 20 minutes the audio drops out for a few seconds then the video will freeze. The first time it happens it continues playing after a few seconds, but a few minutes later it happens again with a 80028801 error. Video performance overall seems decreased as well. I had a 1080p .m2ts file that play virtually skip free yesterday (only for a few seconds during an opening scene), today it is unwatchable. Ugh.

Luckily, my PS3 kicked out different error: 80710092. I found a fix for this error posted here:

Once connected again, you should stay on your private home network. Once my network was steadied, I no longer received any Media Server Errors and I was a streamin' machine. So far and fortunately enough, this has also fixed my 80028801 streaming errors with 2.50. Try it out and let me know if it works for you too. FYI: I am streaming media from Vista 32 WMP11.

I too just started getting this error, fortunately after a restart it stopped.
