I updated today... and have poor results. Videos seem fine to begin, but after 15 or 20 minutes the audio drops out for a few seconds then the video will freeze. The first time it happens it continues playing after a few seconds, but a few minutes later it happens again with a 80028801 error. Video performance overall seems decreased as well. I had a 1080p .m2ts file that play virtually skip free yesterday (only for a few seconds during an opening scene), today it is unwatchable. Ugh.

Luckily, my PS3 kicked out different error: 80710092. I found a fix for this error posted here: Harbro wrote:
Just an addition I'd like to make in case anyone is still googling this problem as I did this evening. I tried all of the fixes above with no luck. However, this suggestion about the Private Network setting gave me a reason to take a look at my network connections. As I was monitoring my network connection (Vista 64 OS) on my PC that is hosting the media server, I noticed that my connection kept switching from my main home network to "Identifying..." and then back to my home, private network. I found an extra route in my route table that was causing constant hiccups within my network connection. To fix the constant revolving door of switching between your private network and the public "Identifying" state: 1) Start 2) Run 3) Type CMD 4) Type (without quotes) "route delete 0.0.0.0" and press enter 5) Disable your network adapter 6) Reenable your network adapter 7) Monitor your network. Once connected again, you should stay on your private home network. Once my network was steadied, I no longer received any Media Server Errors and I was a streamin' machine. Hope this helps someone... Message Edited by Harbro on 10-14-2008 06:06 PM
So far and fortunately enough, this has also fixed my 80028801 streaming errors with 2.50. Try it out and let me know if it works for you too. FYI: I am streaming media from Vista 32 WMP11.

I use to have no issues streaming from WMP11 to my PS3; but after updating to 2.50, I also get This content cannot be played. (80028801) errors after a few minutes of playback.
I too just started getting this error, fortunately after a restart it stopped.
