This is Thread represents the History of Users of 2.8 Homebrew, before the 2.8 Downgrader, or any Devhook version to this day. Enjoy, and try it out. This was before you had the ease of simply loading trough the Game section.

THE BIGGEST TIFF LIBRARY ON THE WEB
What is a Tiff ? Tagged Image File Format (abbreviated TIFF) is a file format for only storing images, including photographs and line art. What is libtiff? This is not a common term used by those new to tiff hombrew. The libtiff package contains a library of functions for manipulating TIFF (Tagged Image File Format) image format files. That is how Tiffs are created, manipulated by our professional hackers and made runnable on the psp How does it work on the PSP? Well to put it in simple terms the specially altered tiff image overflows the psp with data thus causing it to load a tiff game which is coded in C++ ( and is locatred in the tiff image)
Instructions 1. Put the folder in the PHOTO section on the memory stick 2. Select the File under PHOTO in the XMB and press start to start it 3. To shut off , Usually the game has shut off options meaning you do not have to hard shut it. Note: If you are experincing any problems with the tiff games please dont hesitate to pm me. Milad
REMEBER THESE ONLY WORK WITH THE PSP FIRMWARES 2.00 -2.80. THEY WILL NOT BRICK YOUR PSP
Gameboots , Fonts , Backgrounds, and Coldboots now Flashable!! kando has informed us that he launched a program through xLoader on firmware 2.80 that allowed him to not only delete files from flash0, but add his own. So what does that mean, exactly? Well, it means that things like custom gameboots, fonts, and so on can now be written to the PSP's firmware!
Now, why aren't we saying which program he used? Simple. There are absolutely no safeguards in place when you use this program, and it allows you to do anything to any of the files in flash0. On firmware 2.80, even replacing a single PRX module will nearly guarantee a brick. We feel it's important to keep you guys safe, so we're going to keep this relatively quiet until a safer method can be published.
Having said that, FreePlay has personally confirmed that custom backgrounds, fonts, and gameboots can all be written to flash0 using this method.
We look forward to seeing what will come from this new trick, and we give kando a round of applause for using a method so simple that all the developers ignored it as silly!
In the meantime, check out these videos brought to you by FreePlay and PSP3D.com that demonstrate the new advancements in action:
[ Video 1] [ Video 2] UPDATE: Because we still can't write to the IPL (initial program loader) on firmware 2.80, this doesn't get us any closer to a working downgrader. However, it's still pretty nifty! HERE YOu can find all the background you want to flash on your psp
NEW REALEASE!! TIFF ELOADER 0.955 "Krieg" It's been a long wait for 2.80 PSP owners, eager to get their hands on some homebrewing goodness. But hopefully today's news will prove that the wait has been worthwhile.
Noobz are proud to announce the release of the latest eLoader, version 0.995 (hey, we're scared of the big 1.0, OK?), also known as "Kriek". We know you don't want to read too many words before getting into the action, so - what's new? - The biggie - support for v2.80 firmware. v2.80 is still only user-mode support, and there are some minor syscalls that can't be resolved. But in general, the vast majority of user-mode homebrew works fine.
- Another biggie - this release includes an experimental new way of using eLoader, called xLoader. xLoader allows you to run homebrew directly from the PSP's XMB menu, just like on a v1.0 PSP. Usage is a lot like Dark Alex's HEN C, but the underlying technology is very different. Because it's experimental, and a lot of work to fix up for each firmware, it's currently only supported for v2.80 firmware, and compatibility is a little lower than standard eLoader. Make sure to view the README file (displayed during installation) for more information.
- You can now use the power switch to enter suspend mode in any homebrew that normally supports suspend mode on v1.5 firmware. This works in eLoader on firmwares 2.5-2.71, and in xLoader.
- The built-in PSP on-screen keyboard now works in xLoader.
- The Installotron is now included in the eLoader installation, so that in principle, you may never need to manually install any homebrew ever again. Installotron also now includes an option to automatically modify EBOOTs to make them suitable for xLoader.
- Stability and compatibility is mostly improved over v0.99, although some homebrew is less stable, especially on v2.00 firmware. You may want to keep 0.99 and 0.995 side-by-side on firmwares that can run both.
You can download the auto-installer for Windows here, and the ZIP version for other operating systems here. You can also view the compatibility results from our beta testing in the Homebrew Database website - in particular, results for xLoader and eLoader on v2.80 firmware. If you're using xLoader, you will probably also want to look at the PatchSFO tool, released below.
Patch SFO Tool This program is used to patch the EBOOT files to make them compatable with firmware 2.80. This application goes through all of the applications installed in MS0:/PSP/GAME/ and patches them so that they will start with xLoader. This was a tool that we used during testing and we thought it would be useful to users, the source is provided as well so that if anyone wants to build this into an nice application, you can do. It will presumably also work for making homebrew compatible with Dark Alex's HEN C, although we haven't tested that to confirm it. Source is included in case anyone wants to extend it and make it prettier. You can download it here.
The End of the TIFF Homebrew Period
Tiff PSPeriodic
Propel mentioned a few days ago that he will stop dishing out updates on his work, PSPeriodic application. It was actually a good time to leave the project as improvements and corrections were already done to it. It was working perfectly fine anyway, so why fix something if it ain't broke, right? But today, Propel came out not just with an update, but a TIFF version of PSPeriodic. We guess that the saying once a coder, always a coder, applies here, right? Anyway, for fw2.80 users, this indeed is something to smile about given the deal between homebrews and their afflicted PSPs. In a rather humble tone, Propel mentioned in his post that "it's ASCII graphics, so it doesn't look good but it gets the job done." He also would like to extend his thanks to SG57 for the blank template and tutorials, and the Noobz team for the the TIFF SDK and the tetris source. Now ain't that nice? Devs helping each other out when one gets stuck in a bind or something. Nice job as always, Propel!
TIFF Raction Game by Sander
TheReactionLord by Sander it seems that we have a new Dev for tiff!! Enjoy!!
TIFF Rock Paper Scissors V. 2 A new Tiff Game, created by a un heard Tiff developer Kazart. Very Weird Controls I actually can't distinguish them myself. In my opinion, there is a lot of place for improvement. However, it is a great complement to our Tiff Library
TIFF T-ick Lock Pick App SG57 from our QJ Forums, sure seems to have a lot of fine time in his hands. And aren't we just as glad to be benefiting from it? That's because he has released his T-ick Lock Pick App, which is a port of PSPick v0.2 released last July 2005. Now, since that one's way over a year ago, chances are that the Master Lock producer company may have already changed their algorithm. Nonetheless, this version is supposed to allow anyone to open a Master Lock. SG57's version features his new demo, Plasma Field. You can also find combinations to any Combination Master Lock, find crucial number to find the rest (the last one), as well as an easy-to-use interface and built-in instructions and general info on what's up. Now, it also has the same abilities (and disabilities) as PSPick v0.2, since it is, after all, a port of it. As for the Open Source, he says it's a good teaching tool to utilize TIFF SDK effectively, or at least to a certain extent. Here are the Controls: - Opening Screen:
- X - Continue
- Middle Screen:
- D-Pad Up/Right - Increase Lock's Last Number
- D-Pad Down/Left - Decrease Lock's Last Number
- Start - Continue
- Ending/Results Screen:
- Triangle - Go back to Opening Screen/Start Over
- Global/Anywhere:
- HOME - Exit
Anyway, you can download it right here.
TiFF PLASMA Yes sir, and here is another demo.... Of course by SG57 This is what he said Yes, another demo. This one is a Plasma Field. Very cool - controls written on screen - must try it before you judge it ;-) Source included - port of karmon's DOWNLOAD HERE

TIFF CAlculator 0.1 One of the homebrew scene's well-known developers, SG57, has just released another TIFF application for everyone. This time around, he has developed a simple calculator which is a port of the LUA version first made by Shine. If you're not impressed yet, you might want to take a look at the functions of this application as enumerated by SG57 himself:
Basic Math (+, -, /, *)- Negative Number Support
- Basic Trig Functionality (sine, cosine)
- Square Root Function
- Other useful routines (x/2, x^2)
- more functionalities
- Easy-to-use GUI
- Good for everyday math (depending on math level)
- Source Code Included
The said functions make this application a rather handy thing to have. However, SG57 himself has also pointed out in the readme file included that there are still several bugs in the program which may be fixed in future updates. - Decimal Support - its in there but rounds decimal to whole number. This means sine, cosine get rounded making them a tad pointless. I hope with me releasing the source, this gets changed upon (note - its only a problem since my manual atoi/itoa function only supports string -> int conversion, not string -> long/float.
- Tangent - lacking as I cant find the correct NID at the moment. Once again, i hope by releasing the source this gets looked into. All one must do is stub and link the tanf function, than uncomment the tan routine (in ProcessKeys)
- No Character Limit - this means one can keep entering a number/s and have it go off screen and appear on the next line and whatnot. I really dont feel like fixing this (too lazy to apply scientific notation
) as it just crashes your PSP after randomly coloring the calculator's display so... If your not gonna bother to use this app like it was intended for - than dont use it at all... - Difficulty Running - I dont know about you all, but after upgrading to SE-B'', I've had difficulty running my TIFF homebrew without it freezing up/crashing on boot up so... If you cant get it to start after the 10th time, dont give up as i can assure you it works

TIFF Snowfield Once again SG57 has released a demo appliaction This is what he said Im at it again... A port of a random starfield i found on the internet. You can change the color of the snow via D-Pad. Feedback and support help motivate me so... You know what to do!
TIFF FLAMEZ A flames deom by SG57 Here is what he said This is a very very nice demo showing realistic flames I plan to use in an app sometime soon, just dont know what! Please request! This is a port of Fanjita's original version to TIFF.
TIFF TNT Dude 1.3 Coolguy 5678 just keeps setting the bar higher for himself. After the release of his TIFF TNT Dude v1.2, here he comes yet again with another version, v1.3. So what's new here? Initially, it was just supposed to be some bug fix update, but he thought that was way too boring. So he decided to spice it up by adding some more teleporters and six new maps. He says this might be the final release, unless of course there's enough demand from you guys for an update. Ever the pleaser, eh?
Anyhow, you already know the basics of this game. It's similar to Bomberman, and it's got three powerups: Bomb, Power, and Superpower. Now for this new version, you'd find blue circles with cyan circles inside scattered about. Those would be the teleporters that he's added. What these do is to teleport you to the cyan circles with blue circles inside them, or the "teledests". Controls remain the same.
As for the six new maps added, they are the following:
TWISTED. MAP- when he said it's hard to explain, it really is. So, just check it out for yourself.
ALLTOGETHERNOW.MAP- the players start near each other
ARENA.MAP- it's a small arena, this one
NAME.MAP- the players start from the sides instead of from the corners
GIANTBOMB.MAP- the name says it all. There's a giant bomb filled with a whole lot of powerups.
TELEP.MAP- go crazy with the teleporters Anyhow, you can download both the zip file and the source zipfile right here. So, play to your heart's content.
TIFF TEASER Ok, here is a PS2 (slim?) console 'teaser'. This allows you to turn on/off and reset a PS2 console within IR distance Only works with Slim Ps2 By SG57
TIFF Test IRda
Here ibutton!s an IrDA Test for the TIFF exploit. I dont have 2 PSPs so... If you do, please test it and tell me what happens when you press a By SG57
TIFF UNSTUCK
 Features:
- Fix/Repair Stuck Pixels (possibly dead ones?)
Works by flashing Red, Blue and Green (contain 16 million colors) color'd pixels on each pixel randomly very fast for an extended period of time in hopes of unsticking a stuck pixel. Works by manipulating the screen in 3 ways: Black, White and Fading. This allows you to look for stuck pixels yourself, any color, thus saving you time since if you DONT have any stuck pixels, you'd be repairing/fixing nothing. All my projects released so far have had quite an intro, this is the first to actually not keep you waiting during the intro. - Power TickThis will keep the screen from shutting down/turning off so you dont have to press a button every 2 + minutes.
Controls:
Menu:
- Up/Down - Navigate
- X - Run option
Testing for Stuck Pixels:
- L Trigger - Black Background
- R Trigger - White Background
- X - Fading Background (black->white->black smooth transitions)
- [] - Hide Message Dialog
Global:
- Start - Return to main menu
- HOME - Exit
- Music Note - Screenshot
Extras:
- Heart-warming exit screen
- Credits (also cool looking)
- 'Easy to use' interface
- Source Code included (very good for beginners as its commented alot and has alot of useful techniques
I just hope someone finds this useful as it took me ~4-5 hours to produce (had to break in the middle for food ) DOWNLOAD HERE
Tiff Starfield We all know that nothing beats starting a day with a pop quiz. Tee-hee. Just kidding. Of course, not all of us are big fans of tests. After all, who wants to wake up dreading for a particular oral exam, or worse, finals?
But there's always an exception to the rule, and in this case, most people will actually look forward to exams if they're no-brainers. Well, we actually got one here, and we're pretty much sure you'd enjoy answering it.
What is SG57's demo for the latest TIFF exploit? a) TIFF Starfield tech demo b) Tiff exploit? Huh? What? c) It's like, Ponies and Kittens, you know. Duh!
We told ya it's a no brainer (winks). Anyway, SG57's got a new demo for you guys to try out. He says that he "decided to use this in a new game/app, but haven't a clue what to use it in", so if you got some ideas for this demo, let him know. The controls are as follows:
-> or ^ : To scroll through colors FORWARD
<- or V: To scroll through colors BACKWARDS
HOME: Exit
Pretty easy, right? Why don't you check it out? The download link's just below. Keep in mind, though, that this is still a demo, but the dev's open for ideas, so give him a shout-out if you have one. DOWNLOAD HERE
Tiff TNT DUDE 1.2 This version allows extra maps to be placed into a folder, which can be loaded and played on. There is also a superpower powerup, although the code for it was already in v1.0 . I also stopped the annoying key repeat on the menu .
Gameplay --------
This game is similar to Bomberman. There are three powerups: Bomb powerup - This pink powerup gives you an extra bomb. Power powerup - This yellow powerup makes your bombs more powerful. Superpower powerup - This blue powerup gives you extremely powerful bombs!
Game modes: Single player - One human player and three AI's in a free-for-all. 2 Player: 1v1 - Two human players against each other 2 Player: FFA - Two human players and two AI's in a free-for-all.
Controls --------
Single Player: Move: D-pad Drop bomb: X or O
2-Player:
Player 1 Move: D-pad Drop bomb: Left shoulder button
Player 3 Move: Face buttons (X, O, square, triangle) Drop bomb: Right shoulder button
Miscellaneous: Pause game: Start Save screenshot to PSP/PHOTO/TNTScreen.bmp: Note Return to game menu: Select Quit to XMB: Home
Extra maps ----------
Any maps added to the maps folder will be loaded into the game. In the game menu, you can select a different map using the shoulder buttons. Only 20 maps can be placed in this folder, if there are any more then they will not be loaded.
Four extra maps are included: boom.map - Everyone starts with very powerful bombs. Takes "insanity" to a whole new level :-). soft.map - Same as above, but with only soft blocks - no hard blocks. centre.map - The first player to reach the centre of the map gets very powerful bombs. maze.map - A maze.
If you want to make your own maps, see the README in the Custom maps folder.
NEW* TIFF TETRIS. Download WavePad if you haven't already LINK. 2. Download the new Tiff Tetris where you can finde here: DOWNLOAD HERE 3. Install then Open WavePad, and then drag and drop a song into the empty space. 4. Then click where it says change Speed And Pitch, and change it to 200. 5. Go to file and click Save as, and change the name to music. 6. Now plug your usb in your computer connected to the PSP, then locate the tetris file either on your PC or on your PSP (if its already on your psp locate it there) 7. Now delete the file named music which is already in the Tetris folder, and now put your customized music into that folder then drag the whole tetris folder to your PSP Photo folder. 8. Now exit USB mode and play Tetris and it should play your custom soundtrack Any Problems PM me (I have used this and in my opinion it is one of the best remakes of Tetris so far. It has a new interface colour from the original blue to silver, and also has songs included, and doesn't have the original sounds of the beeps when pressing a button, instead there are different sounds which sound a little more stronger.)
Tiff FileAssistant v0.061 FreePlay has just ported yet another homebrew favorite to the TIFF 2.7-2.80 (and, once again, 2.0, 2.01, 2.5, 2.6) firmware exploit. FileAssistant, originally created by Lin J.R, is an application which allows you to copy, move, rename, and delete files and folders both on the memory stick, and in the PSP's flash1, as well as copy files from the PSP's flash0 to flash1 or your memory stick. In his own words, FreePlay calls this a "stripped-down" version of the program, since it lacks UMD support and a battery meter due to restrictions in the TIFF SDK's ability to resolve syscalls. He also states that this version of FileAssistant is actually faster at reading/writing then all the non-TIFF releases; great work FreePlay!
3D Cube Demo Insomniac197 has released a new 3D Tiff Demo, heres the info:
Decided to mess with the TIFF SDK this morning.
Made a small sample just to prove that 3D is possible using the TIFF SDK.

TIFF Crucenic We really don't know what to make of this as of now. All that SG57 mentioned about his Crucenic BETA was that it was a Squarez clone. More than this, we couldn't get it to play. And neither has anyone in the forums. (Spare us, we're only human!) J_Le_Fou seems to have been able to get it to work though. How? We're not really sure...
The developer plans to update it as soon as he gets home from school, though, so you guys who can't seem to play it (us included) might want to sit tight for more news about this. We'll keep you posted.
There's a readme, though. And for those of you who are lucky enough to get it to play, here's the controls:
- Start: Pause
- Analog: Move
- Up/Right: Change Starfield Color (when Paused)
- Down/Left: Change Starfield Color (when Paused)
- HOME: Exit (when paused)
- Music Note: Screenshot
I CAN CONFIRM THIS DOES WORK, BUT ON OTHER FORUMS THEY SAY IT DOESN'T.
TIFF TNT Dude
coolguy5678 is currently working on his second TIFF game called TNT Dude, inspired by the game Bomberman. According to the developer, the game is still limited to two players as he wasn't able to work on the AI yet. But he has already spilled some of the controls for this early release of the homebrew. Player 1 would be able to control his bomberman by using the D-pad and in order to drop bomb, one must utilize the left shoulder button. For Player 3, the Face buttons will be used to control his bomberman and the right shoulder button for dropping bombs. Other controls include the Note button for taking screenshots and the Quit button for returning to to the Home page.
The developer has also shared some of his plans for the game which includes:
- AI
- A menu for choosing between 1 player mode, 2 player 1v1 mode and 2 player with computer mode
- Simple powerups (more bombs, more powerful bombs)
- Maybe: more complex powerups
- Maybe: more maps
- Double maybe: A level editor
We will keep you updated on new developments in this cool game, so stay tuned.
Tiff Brick-Out SG57 has just released TIFF Brick-Out, an ASCII-based arkanoid homebrew clone, compatible with all firmwares 2.0 - 2.8 (yes, just when you thought TIFF based games were out of style, SG57 has revived the format in light of all the users stuck with 2.8 firmware), for the PSP3D Ultimate Goodies And Cash Giveaway contest! The game offers sweet, though occasionally choppy, gameplay, but definitely brings back tears of nostalgia from the good ol' DOS days. Awesome work SG57!
New TIFF TETRIS 2.00 ( Crappy Bleep Sound )
FAKE TIFF 2.8 DOWNGRADER!!!!!! NOTE: THIS DOES NOT BRICK, OR IS NOT A REAL DOWNGRADER IT IS JUST TO SCARE PEOPLE Trust me , nothing happens. Whatever i put on here i test it first on my psp.
Download here TIFF Reaction Game Installation ------------ Place the REACGA directory into your PSP/PHOTO directory. The game can be loaded using the method for most other TIFF games. (slideshow method is generally less stable than normally pressing X). Playing -------
The game tests your ability to quickly react to changes on screen. On screen, you will see the X, circle, square and triangle buttons, along with a green/red bar along the top of the screen. When one of the buttons turns red, quickly press that button. If you press it quick enough, the green section of the bar will increase, but if you take too long then it will decrease. Pressing a button while it is white also decreases the bar. You simply have to stop the green bar from running out for as long as possible. Later on in the game, the directional buttons and shoulder buttons will also appear to make the game a bit harder. Credits -------

Tiff BookRu v 2.1.1 This is one homebrew application that would delight bookworms everywhere. BookRU v2.1.1 is a handy book reader for the PSP for 2.80 firmware. It was developed by Russian coder Mushue. BookRU makes it easier to read books or long text on your PSP. To use this application:
- Download file and extract it to the root directory of your MS
- Go to Photo XMB menu
- Select BookRU folder and press start
The book or text that you want to read must be named text.txt and placed in /PSP/PHOTO/BookRu/ folder. To read the book, use the following keys:
- R: Next page
- L: Previous page
- Triangle: Go to first page
- Circle: Ten pages forward
- Start: Make bookmark
- Select: Go to bookmark
- Home: Exit
For best viewing results using BookRu v2.1.1, format the text with MS Word (or other text processor) in such a way that the number of characters in one line shouldn't be more than 53. Save your book as plain text (txt) with and enabled.
BookRu v2.1.1 is still in beta, so some bugs and glitches will be part of the package. Download here
2.7- 2.71 eLoader!!!!! We thought you might like a little something to celebrate the fact that it's Oktoberfest soon. So what better to raise a drink for than a new eLoader release, named after the Oktoberfest classic, M?rzenbier! The major new feature is support for v2.70 and v2.71 firmwares. That's right, full support for these 2 firmwares is now added, using a new kernel-mode syscall-finding technique (which is why 2.80 support is not yet possible). As well as support for the v2.7 firmwares, there is also limited kernel mode support on v2.5-v2.71. This means that the .init program section (which contains functions declared with the 'constructor' attribute) will be called in kernel-mode for homebrew built with the kernel mode attribute. Note that you cannot create kernel-mode threads from the init functions in this release, due to security checks in the firmware. The increased kernel access has also allowed us to add a built-in exception handler to eLoader, so that crashes can be caught and debugged more easily, as well as usually preventing the need to reboot. You can pick up the Windows auto-installer for "M?rzenbier" here, or the ZIP file version for other operating systems here. A list of confirmed working homebrew is in the Homebrew Database: If you find others that work (or don't), please make sure to add an entry into the database!
Tiff Analog Fun
kyelewis has just released his first homebrew Tiff AnalogFun v0.1.1, an update of the Tiff AnalogFun 0.1. In the updated version, some bugs have been fixed and a new source code has been released. This is a game you could play to while away the time.
To play, all you have to do is use the analog stick to fill as many blocks as you can in 30 seconds, then you get your score. If you get to fill the squares in the last 10 seconds of the game, you earn double points. When you're done playing, just press "Home" to quit.
Installing the game is just as simple. Just unzip, then copy the PSP folder you unzipped to the root of your Memory Stick. Browse photos and use "Run as slideshow" for "ANALOGFUN". kyelewis warns us that if we don't run as a slideshow, the analog stick won't work (this is a bug that still needs to get fixed). The source code is available to anyone who's thinking of making a TIFF homebrew. It's based on the 2.8.0 sdk work by fanjita and the rest of the crew over at noobz.eu.
Tiff FileAssistant 0.6 FreePlay has just ported yet another homebrew favorite to the TIFF 2.7-2.80 (and, once again, 2.0, 2.01, 2.5, 2.6) firmware exploit.
Tiff Snakman Robert A. and Percival have just introduced Snakman, ported for 2.7-2.80 TIFF exploit users. The game, based off original code by Yeldarb, is somewhat of a split between Pacman and Snake: the perfect combination of retro gaming, in my opinion. The 2.7-2.80 TIFF homebrew scene is growing incredibly fast, good work!
Be sure to read the included readme.txt in order to properly utilize this piece of homebrew. Also, TIFF Snakman v0.2 does not properly exit yet, a patch may be released soon to fix this.

Tiff Space Invaders SG57 has just released a new, handcoded, ACSII-based space invaders clone, specifically coded with the TIFF exploit in mind, ensuring compatibility for 2.7-2.80 (and 2.0, 2.01, 2.5, 2.6) firmwares. Inspired by the work of Art, and his respective ACSII game in X-Flash, SG57 takes an awesome new perspective to the space invaders concept: simple and fun. He also states that he is working on a few other ACSII-based TIFF games, and plans to release them in the near future. Great work SG57, it's great to see more and more TIFF games popping up!
Tiff Font HACK FreePlay has just released a port of the font hack for PSP, to firmwares 2.7-2.80 (and, of course, 2.0, 2.01, 2.5, and 2.6). The font hack, originally created by FreePlay, himself, TeamOverload, and Skylark, enables users to change the fonts on the PSP's home XMB screen ( check out this screenshot for an example), and allows for italic, bold, shadow, and other style options for fonts. Another awesome leap for 2.7-2.80 homebrew and PSP customization, great work FreePlay! DOWNLOAD HERE
Tiff Penguin Robert A. has just released yet another awesome port for 2.7-2.80 (and as low as 2.0) firmware PSPs, utilizing the TIFF exploit. Penguin Scramble, originally coded by Percival back during the early days of the GTA exploit, is a game where you try to maneuver a penguin past hazardous glaciers, and attempt to survive as long as possible. Pretty straightforward, and there are no known glitches at this time, so download it and have fun! Note: If you're having trouble getting this to work, try highlighting the 'PENGUIN' folder in the 'PHOTO' menu on your memory stick, then press 'Start' to start a slideshow. This seems to be the most reliable method for running homebrew using the TIFF exploit.
TIFF Snake
Ever since Noobz's firmware 2.0-2.8 SDK was released, there's been a slow and steady trickle of homebrew games coming in for firmware 2.70- 2.80. We started with Tetris... Then TIFF Pong... Then TIFF Tron. Now, let's add another one to that list. Youresam just ported Shine's Snake game to a compatible version for 2.80 users and it makes also use of the TIFF exploit. You guys can download the file below. Inside the .zip folder are two folders: one for the game, another containing the source code. To install and play the game, here's one way to do it: - copy the SNAKE folder into your memory stick under PSP/PHOTO/

Seems like these homebrews (or home"ports"?) are getting better and better as we progress. Soon enough, who knows how far we can all go with our own games for 2.8 firmware? Keep it up, guys! Whether you're brewing a game or porting it, it's still progress!
Tiff Tetris
If this doesn?t make you jump up in your chairs and run to ?Mommy? asking her to buy you a 2.80 PSP, I don?t know what will! Well, this news may not be enough for one to buy a new PSP, but it definitely is worth jumping out of your chair in pure excitement. ?XML:NAMESPACE PREFIX = O > The ?Noobz? team has released the first homebrew game for 2.80 PSP?s (as well as 2.70 and 2.71). This game will also work on all firmwares from 2.0-2.80 firmwares, although 2.80 gets the most benefit out of this game as it is the "trickest" firmware that we have exploited. This single piece of homebrew is the simple game of Tetris and is made possible by the recent libtiff vulnerability that has been exploited. With previous exploits, Tetris games have been used to demonstrate the exploit, and this one is no exception. ?Noobz? has developed this game for users to enjoy, and it also demonstrates that the exploit is definetly "usable". The 2.80 is very capable of running homebrew (user-mode), but all it needs is a kick in the right direction. This homebrew game is exactly the kick we need. As for the other firmwares, 2.71 can already be downgraded with Dark_Alex's downgrader, so this is a huge milestone for 2.80 (can't be downgraded).
Even though there is no eLoader on 2.80 at this time, the team has taken the liberty to release instructions on how to make homebrew ?2.80 compatible?. For those curious youngsters who want to know how this was made possible, just download the SDK package that does exactly that ? shows you how it was made (coding experience is a good thing to have if you wish to understand it). Instructions on how to create compatible homebrew are also found in the SDK download DOWNLOAD TETRIS HERE DOWNLOAD TETRIS + SDK HERE
Tiff Pong ( Multiplayer ) Robert A. and Percival have just released the second homebrew game for 2.70-2.80 firmwares (technically compatible with all firmwares 2.0-2.80). TIFF Pong, as it's called, is a simple homebrew Pong game, which utilizes the TIFF exploit in conjunction with the just-released 2.70-2.80 SDK developed by Noobz. Many remember the time when the GTA exploit was at the stage that the current TIFF exploit is now: eLoader-less. It's amazing how fast the PSP hombrewing community has been blazing through firmwares with exploit after exploit. TIFF Pong brings back tears of nostalgia from the memories of the past (for those who had a PSP in the days of yesteryear). Nothing's better than some retro-Pong gaming on the go! Note: If you're having trouble getting this to work, try highlighting the PONG folder in the PHOTO menu, then press Start to start a slideshow. This seems to be the most reliable method for running it.
Tiff Pong ( Single player ) New features/fixes in v0.2 include: - AI for 2.7-2.8 fixed (single player mode). - Easy exit method fixed (no more hard resets). - Code optimized and better overall stability. Note: If you're having trouble getting this to work, try highlighting the 'pong' folder in the 'PHOTO' menu on your memory stick, then press 'Start' to start a slideshow. This seems to be the most reliable method for running it.
Tiff Tron elad_thc has released TIFF Tron, the third game for the new TIFF exploit. He says that he hit a dead end while trying to port something to the TIFF SDK, so he made a small Tron clone instead. The game pits you against an AI opponent in a classic Tron match, where the goal is to force your opponent to crash into the walls or your own light trail. To install TIFF Tron, simply unzip the tron.zip file into the 'PHOTO' folder under the 'PSP' folder on your Memory Stick. So far, the game has been tested on firmware versions 2.60 and 2.80, and elad_thc says it should work for everything from 2.00 to 2.80. Great work, elad_thc! Note: If you're having trouble getting this to work, try highlighting the 'tron' folder in the 'PHOTO' menu on your memory stick, then press 'Start' to start a slideshow. This seems to be the most reliable method for running it.
HELLO WORLD ( What started it all )
Finally, it's here! As of today, the world of homebrew is no longer restricted to owners of Grand Theft Auto. Following the publication of a new proof of concept TIFF vulnerability by NOPx86, a team of PSP developers has been working hard to turn it into an opening for homebrew on the PSP. We're pleased to announce that the wait is over, with the release of a Hello World demo that runs on all PSP firmwares that are capable of viewing TIFF images! You can see a photo of it in action here. Alternatively, you can click here to download it and see for yourself! To install, just unpack the ZIP file to your PSP's PHOTO folder, and then attempt to view hello_world.tif. Hello World will launch automatically. You may find that occasionally the full screen doesn't show - this is a known problem, just restart your PSP by holding the power button until it turns off, then open the image again. To quit, hold the power button until the PSP turns off. So what happens next? This shows that we can run code via this exploit. It won't be too hard to develop an eLoader that can use this exploit on v2.0 - v2.6. v2.7+ will be harder, due to extra security, but will happen a little later. Kernel mode is unavailable on v2.8, but it is likely that a downgrader is possible on all other firmwares. But then, with the possibility of kernel homebrew running without the need for a game UMD, why would you need to downgrade? Full credit is given in the Hello World, but repeated here: Thanks to NOPx86 for the initial proof of concept on the x86 processor, and psp250, Skylark, Joek2100, CSwindle, JimP and Fanjita for the PSP work. Thanks also to Ditlew, HarleyG and our families for general support during this work. UPDATE: It has since come to our attention that the initial research that discovered the libtiff vulnerability was done by Tavis Ormandy of Google, Inc. For more details see here. Please note that all development of a practical exploit for the PSP was done entirely independently, by the team noted above.
