DOING THIS IS INCREDIBLY DANGEROUS, AND CAN BRICK YOUR PSP IF YOU MAKE A MISTAKE, IF YOU DELETE THE WRONG FILES YOU COULD DISABLE RECOVERY MODE
The purpose of this guide is to free up some Flash0 space so larger files can be flashed. If you flash a gameboot before clearing some flash0 space then you will semi-brick, and will have to downgrade back to 1.5 using recovery mode.
First download Xflash and PSP Filer
Preparation
- The first and most important thing to do is to use Xflash to create a backup dump of your firmware (option 11 in XFlash), the dump takes up around 20 MB and will be saved in a folder called "DUMP" in your XFlash folder.
- Start up PSP Filer, to change the language to English hit select and then circle. Hold L-Trigger+Left on D-Pad+R-Trigger to enter hacker mode so files can be deleted from Flash0.
These first two deletions have no noticeable affects if you speak English.
Deleting gb3s1518.bwfon and jpn0.pgf
- In PSP Filer hit start until you see Flash0
- Scroll down to the font folder and hit circle
- Scroll down to ltn9.pgf (the smallest font file) and hit "x", then circle, this copies it to the RAMDISK.
- Scroll up to jpn0.pgf and hit "x", then square, this deletes it
- Hit start until you are in RAMDISK, hit "x" on ltn9.pgf and hit "R", this will bring up a keyboard to rename the file, rename it to jpn0.pgf.
- Hit start until you are in Flash0, use circle to open the font folder, and then hit "x" then "triangle" to paste the jpn0.pgf you made here.
- Repeat the same steps with gb3s1518.bwfon
These deletions will remove some functionality, nearly all of the locations below are taken from |-Anubis-|'s guide at the QJ.net forums.
##Removes/Disables Camera. XMB Icon does nothing.
flash0:/vsh/resource/camera_plugin.rco 168.8KB
flash0:/vsh/nodule/camera_plugin.prx 77.6KB
flash0:/kn/usbcam.prx 31.4KB

flash0:/vsh/nodule/update_plugin.prx 20.0KB
flash0:/vsh/resource/update_plugin.rco 13.6KB
##Removes RSS apparently. Attempting to add a RSS Channel will cause the PSP to crash.
flash0:/vsh/resource/rss_subscriber.rco 11.0KB
flash0:/vsh/nodule/rss_subscriber.prx 10.0KB
##Disable XMB Video Capability. Game Videos still play. XMB Icon does nothing.
flash0:/vsh/nodule/video_plugin.prx 8.8KB
flash0:/vsh/nodule/video_main_plugin.prx 162.3KB
flash0:/vsh/nodule/msvideo_plugin.prx 10.3KB
flash0:/vsh/nodule/msvideo_main_plugin.prx 354.0KB
flash0:/vsh/resource/video_plugin_videotoolbar.rco 78.4KB
flash0:/vsh/resource/video_main_plugin.rco 32.0KB
flash0:/vsh/resource/msvideo_main_plugin.rco 157.1KB
##Disable XMB Audio Capability. Still hear the Click sounds in the XMB. XMB Icon does nothing.
flash0:/vsh/resource/music_main_plugin.rco 177.6KB
flash0:/vsh/nodule/music_main_plugin.prx 366.1KB
flash0:/vsh/nodule/music_common.prx 72.9KB
flash0:/vsh/nodule/music_plugin.prx 10.3KB
##Disables XMB Photo capability. Can still View Pictures on Eboots and Music Album Icons etc.
flash0:/vsh/resource/photo_plugin.rco 124.6KB
flash0:/vsh/nodule/photo_plugin.prx 107.8KB
##Disables/Removes Web Browser flash0:/vsh/nodule/htmlviewer_plugin.prx 25.2KB
flash0:/vsh/nodule/htmlviewer_ui.prx 200.3KB
flash0:/vsh/nodule/htmlviewer_utility.prx 18.1KB

I will add that, but it is not that dangerous because 3.02/3 OE-A/B has recovery mode.

and even to the point where recovery is usless. there are a couple of files that are ran before the psp checks for r button held to enter recovery... and if you delete one of them, your screwed.

If you don't do this then you will semi-brick if you try to flash a gameboot on 3.02/3 OE-A/B, unless you are using a specially made gameboot that is smaller than 196 KB.

Exactly. And there arent many that are under 196kb...and who HONESTLY needs a different gameboot?

You could semi-brick flashing anything, there is just about no free flash0 space in 3.02/3 OE-A/B. No one don't needs a different gameboot, but there are many gameboots that are better than the default one.
