~Welcome to Ace Dawg's guide to making your own coldboot sounds on your OE firmwared PSP~ **BEFORE YOU BEGIN, KNOW THAT THIS CAUSES YOU TO BE UNABLE TO PLAY YOUR COPIED PSX GAMES ON YOUR PSP!** **AS ALWAYS, FLASHING ANYTHING TO YOUR PSP's FLASH0 CAN BRICK, SO I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANYTHING YOU DO TO YOUR OWN PSP!** 1. You need to download this pack to your pc. Unzip it and we can begin. (Inside should be MFAudio, PSPMenuEdit, and an opening_plugin.rco file.) Credit to: xPSPx Skull xPSPx for the great pack! 2. Making your ColdBoot.vag file: a. Open MFAudio, found within the pack. b. Hit the OPEN button, and select your .WAV file you want to use. -NOTE: Your file must be a .WAV file, and it must be 16-bit. If it isn't, you need to convert it! Google for a converter. -NOTE: Your .WAV file CANNOT be shorter than 1 second or longer than 4 seconds! c. Change the output audio file to "VAG - Sony PSX Sound - Compressed ADPCM" and hit Save As. Save it somewhere like on the desktop where you can find it later. Save it as "ColdBoot.vag" (exactly like that.) d. Finally, hit process, and it should create the ColdBoot.vag file. 3. Now, open up PSPMenuEdit. 4. Over on the right side (not the left side, ignore the left side completely) is the "Edit Coldboot Startup Sound" menu. There should be something that says: <SELECT THE FILE FIRST>, and to the right of that is a little button with three little dots, hit that. 5. A file browser will show up. Find and double-click the opening_plugin.rco file that was included in the pack you donloaded earlier. 6. Hit "Extract the Audio", It will create a ColdBoot.vag file in the same folder as the MFAudio and PSPMenuEdit. This is the original coldboot sound, extracted from the opening_plugin.rco. (open it in MFAudio and hit play to make sure it is the original sound, just to be safe) 7. Now, hit "Insert New Audio". A file browser will pop up, find and double-click your new ColdBoot.vag file. 8. It will automatically insert it, and it should say "All done!" You can now close PSPMenuEdit. 9. The opening_plugin.rco you were using now has a custom coldboot sound. ~For directions on how to flash your new coldboot onto your psp, please refer to my other guide: Link Here TROUBLESHOOTING: My coldboot sound plays too fast on my psp: -Make sure your original .WAV file is 16-bit. -Make sure it is not shorter than 1 second, or longer than 4 seconds. -If it still goes fast, go back to step 2, and turn up the frequency in MFAudio before converting the .WAV file. I get a "...it's not my fault" message in PSPMenuEdit while Inserting New Audio: -You tried to use a different opening_plugin.rco file. Currently this only works with the provided opening_plugin.rco. I will try to help the best I can with any questions. I do not take credit for this, all credit goes to xPSPx Skull xPSPx.
