Today we're going to talk about some grips. For those of you who play PSP for a long period of time and find your hands feeling tired from griping the PSP too long, here are a couple of solutions. The first one is licensed by Capcom and I posted about it a while ago with Monster Hunter's Pack G here. Monster Hunting grip The surface of the grip is all rubber coated and of course, has that rubbery feel. It has just enough texture so you won't feel like you're gripping some cheap rubber/plastic material. It's very lightweight so that's a plus for long gaming session and also it only works with the slim. The PSP feels pretty solid with the grip attached (the unit doesn't flex due to the fact that its body is constructed out of a single piece material). Another thing, the grip will not accomodate the extended capacity battery so only the slim battery will fit. Grip can also double as a stand for watching movies, listening to MP3s, etc. UMD slot is accessible but both sides of the PSP are completely covered when the grip is attached (that means no access to memory stick slot with the grip on). Power button can be a little tricky to reach if you have fat fingers. The price for this unit is around $18 and it's currently released in Japan (so Play-Asia might have it). It comes with a carrying pouch that can hold both the PSP with the grip attached and it also doubles as a cleaning cloth for the screen. Here are some pics (click on them for larger size):

Cyber Expand Grip This unit is also lightweight but the fact is, it has 2 parts connected together so that usually means you get more flexing from the unit. It's made from plastic material and it holds the PSP in 4 places (judging from those pics below, I'd say they're snap-on). It was also mentioned that there's a slight chance of scratching your PSP while attaching/removing the grip (from those 4 holding points). It only works with the slim but can accommodate larger size battery. The price is around $12, already out in Japan (again, Play-Asia may/may not have it). The grips are pretty huge in dimention (fat) so some might find them uncomfortable to hold or use for extended period of time. Here are some pics:

This second one sort of reminds me of DualShock controller design.

Hmm, I don't really like the grips, not my style, never been But I would have to pick the second one, black fits the ice silver PSP much more. The UMD opening was a smart idea. Nice find G! Message Edited by J-Rad14 on 04-04-2008 08:02 AM
Wisdom teeth extracted today (Monday)... am recovering, ice-packs getting on my nerves, and all drugged up.

Hmm.. You're right. I haven't seen it on their site either. You might wanna shoot them (Play-Asia) an email or something. Most of the time, they're pretty quick with the replies. Other than than you may want to check on eBay. I'm pretty sure it will surfaced. Good luck and happy hunting.... for the grip. If I have any new info or find it somewhere online, I'll post it here. Oh and you're welcome.
