I posted this earlier but it got deleted?...! I opened up my PS2 to clean it and after I was done, i was moving it and the top fell off a bit and the ribbon cable came off from the console. How do I fit it back on? It's attached to the top case part (where it hooks into the PWR and RESET), but its unattached on the other end where its supposed to go inside the PS2. I can't find where to put it back in! Can someone help me? Btw my model # is SCPH-30001R. UPDATE: Ok, I found a slot like thing under the CD-DVD drive where I believe this ribbon cable goes in. Cause right next to it, theres two other ribbon cables that go into similar slots and this one is open so I'm guessing this ribbon cable goes in there. My only problem is, I don't know how to push the ribbon cable into that tiny slot...cause its flimsy and stuff..
Kudos!

Okay, take a look at the end that came out, one side should have silver contacts on it, and the other side should have a blue plastic tab on it to help with inserting into the connector. Grab that blue plastic tab and insert straight into the connector, just push it in... may even help to use needle-nose pliers.

If you need a new one, it can be had at:

Hope I helped!

So, the side with silver contacts will be sticking out?

Ok, I did this, and the lights in the front still don't turn on and the whole system doesn't turn on period. If I recall, when I was trying to fix it earlier, I think the blue tab got stuck somewhere, and I pulled on it kind of hard, and when I finally got it out, I saw there's like a dark line across the blue tab, and like the top of the blue tab is glued/attached to the silver lining side UNTIL this line. Well, the blue tab got peeled off a bit from this line, meaning like...the top of the blue tab isn't attached to the silver lining side as much as it should be (or as much as it was earlier) Could I possibly use tape to stick it together or should I invest in another ribbon cable?

Wow sorry for triple post but problem solved! Thanks a lot LakeLander! Only problem now is...while I was working with it, the ribbon cable attaching the controller/memory card port came loose...and no matter how hard I try to fit it back in, it won't stay....and I somehow did manage to make it stick in but when I run the PS2, controllers don't work, so I'm assuming the ribbon cable isnt attached firmly enough. Any solution? And it might be a bit damaged from scratches when I was working on it earlier, so I was wondering if anyone knew there was a ribbon cable replacement for the memory card/controller port. Thanks!

But even if I do buy a new cable, I still wouldn't know how to fit it in. Like I fit it in but then it comes out really loosely...that's the problem.

Okay, the ribbon cable for the controller port is a bit different than the drive ribbons. This connector has a tab on the 'top' which flips up, you have to place the silver contacts on the ribbon with the botton side of the connector, then the tab comes down and locks it into place. just slide the ribbon into the connector and then flip the tab down over it. It's not hard, just precise work.
