STORY Ratchet, as an orphan hero of the universe, is craving to know more about his origins and race. But when the duo is vacationing in Metropolis, Emperor Percival Tachyon, a character of the foul Cragmites, launches a hunt to kill Ratchet, his hatred rooting from an ancient war's humiliation. Ratchet and Clank find out that throughout every one of their adventures, Tachyon has tracked them down, bringing them to steal Tachyon's imperial warship, and flee to the Polaris Galaxy. Along the way, they team up with Talwyn, a female character, who's looking for her father, and Cronk and Zephyr, who're Talwyn's caretakers. As they too search for the Lombax Secret, Ratchet and Clank test the limits of their friendship, and embark upon an epic adventure.
INSOMNIAC'S PS3 UTILIZATIONS Insomniac has been able to reach 45 frames per second. Their main goal is reaching a supreme 60, and if time is present, they plan to move it up to 70 as the max. They're using Enemy AI as a neat goal...on the EGM Cover Story, it was mentioned that one enemy used a boulder as a launching pad. Enemy expression is also one of Insomniac's Utilizations. The Worlds and Planets are planned to be twice the size as of those in the PS2 Games. Originally, Insomniac was able to let 15 Enemies appear on screen, in the Full Moon Show Episode 6, it was revealed that they've been able to get 19 enemies. Instead of the regular 112 Joints on Ratchet, there's much more. Now, there's up to 90, just in his face. In the first GDC '06 Demo, the Kerchu City Basis was just 15% complete. As of the Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, it was only about 30% complete. By Gamer's Day, it was about 66% (or confirmed as 2/3) complete. Insomniac believes that TOD's story will span through multiple Ratchet and Clank games. In the trees of the E3 Metropolis Screenshot, the trees is using more than 10,000 particles already in half of it's leaves. They're using the "bronze shine capping effect" for Metropolis, something they couldn't do in the previous games. All of the CGI and graphic models in the cinematics, are the same used in the gameplay. - The regular playthrough, for the average gamer, takes 14 hours.
GAMEPLAY TIDBITS and OTHER INFO

There will be more weapons here, than in the previous Ratchet and Clank games. Raritanium will be more heavily used. You can collect it on the way as well as bolts. - NPC RPG Quests will be placed in the game, mainly with the Smuggler. These quests allow the player to choose his path among an NPC, what to retrieve, and what specific missions he wants to do, therefore, providing an interactive dialogue. SAMPLE

- Raritanium can be found in chests, water, and various tunnels.
- Ammo is more concrete--Plasma Stalker Pods, Negotiator Rockets--they're also colored differently.
- Clank will be able to battle full-size enemies and traverse levels with the Zony.

Characters Returning Ratchet: As an orphaned lombax of the universe, Ratchet has also been a hero throughout his many adventures. Now, that he finds out about Tachyon, he craves even more about his race and origins. Clank: As Ratchet's companion and a hero himself as well, Clank is learning more about himself. He finds out about his "spiritual side," and soul-searching, which he'll get help from the Zonie, a robot-creature race that only he can see. Clank will also be playing a bigger role--one of them controlling ship weapons, R2D2-style, in some missions. Captain Qwark: Having a reputation for being a bad egg until the end of UYA and Size Matters, Captain Qwark is returning, but is up to no good. He's working for Tachyon, but is also guiding Ratchet and Clank with secrets, making him some sort of double agent. Plumber: Wow. The comical plumber is returning. His role is to advise Ratchet and Clank on their new quest. New Talwyn:Talwyn is a female character, who Ratchet and Clank team up with along the way. She's aware of Tachyon's hatred, and is looking for her father, an arthropologist. RenderCronk and Zephyr are the two robotic caretakers of Talwyn. They both argue over who's better--Cronk with his Blu-Ray technology or Zephyr with his online capabilities? Through the adventure, they advise and fight alongside Ratchet. Max Apogee: He's a Lombax Arthropologist, who's searching for "The Lombax Secret". Emperor Percival Tachyon:The leader of the insect-like Cragmites, Emperor Percival Tachyon, has tracked down Ratchet, and has grown an unusual hatred for Lombaxes. Due to this, he has launched a genocidal war. His revenge all started due to the humiliating defeat that the Cragmites had in an ancient war with the Lombaxes. The Smuggler: He's seen on many planets like Sargasso and Rykon 5, with his annoying parrot, giving Ratchet and Clank gadgets and quests to go upon.
Captain Slag and Rusty Pete: They're two leading space pirates, who happen to have a need to destroy Ratchet and Clank, of course.

Environments Common Bolt Crates- These crates are the obvious, and easiest to find. They basically contain chime bolts. In videos, they seem more bouncy; falling of ledges, etc. unlike before. Ammo Crates- These crates contain ammo. JackPot Crates- Jackpot crates make a return. They help Ratchet and Clank by multiplying the amount of bolts and raritanium they receive. Nanotech Crates-Seen in screens and videos, the crates are blue and when broken, release blue cores. Possibly a whole 'nuther' type of crate. Explosive Crate-If you check on the Gamers Day Video pausing, you'll see what I mean. It is looking to be the red explosive crate. In fact, in the Demo, it has been seen exploding. Plasma Shield Crates- These enable a Plasma Shield around Ratchet and Clank, blocking enemy attacks. Planets/Levels- There will be 18 levels; 15 worlds, 3 space combat Kerchu City, Planet Jasindu- This is the mostly featured area...Kerchu City is surrounded by a lush jungle. The city has a variety of panels, smoke stacks, rivers, and while it's under attack, the native Kerchus try to protect it.LINK Planet Cobalia- Containing the centipedes as well as Planet Jasindu, Cobalia is a gasseous alien planet. A spaceport ran by workers, and the only way to get there, is by going through the corners. Stratus City, Planet Kortog- A space city populated by flying ships and creatures. Ratchet and Clank drop in from a zooming ship, and have to freefall away from missiles. This is another Robo-Wing Free-Roam Planet, that has many swimming puzzles as well. Lava Refinery Spaceport, Rykan V- A lava coated planet with a technological refinery. Ratchet must go through it before Tachyon does. LINK LINK2Imperial Fight Festival, Planet Mukow- A space age amusement park, better said, funfair of death. Ratchet and Clank will have to traverse upon treacherous ferris wheels, active jump fields, cubical space structures, and items that need to be grappled. This planet also houses an arena. LINKCubical Worlds will be included in the game in place of spherical worlds. They will allow and require Ratchet to use jump pads, holes, and many more meccas of platforming elements. Other Mentioned Levels-
Veron Asteroid Belt Rakar Star Cluster, Verdigian Sector (Space Combat level, where pirates lay in wait for the heroes after their flee to Ardolis) Nundar Asteroid Ring Planet Fastoon Cerulean Sector
In_this pic, you can see IG Workers working on levels. Here's what we think, from the guy with the Insomniac T-Shirt. The developer with the Insomniac Moon T-Shirt is working on a tannish level. The roughest details we can see are the hazy tiles, some purple haze on the computer's east side, and a figure, possibly Ratchet and Clank, in the middle. The one next in line is working on a level that has a shape in the middle, and green material around it. This is possibly an arena level. The third one is on a reddish scheme. At the top of the computer, you can see a figure, possibly the ship. The last two are too far to be detailed. All of the Zoom-Ins are the Courtesy of DARK_JAK_911.

Weapons, Combat Devices, Vehicle and Gadgets Please note that the ammo quantity, and versions of the levels may change, along with the icons. Insomniac still has the time to determine the right amount, creativity, and power of the weapons. There are also more weapons in this game, than in all the previous. There will be 23 weapons, and 8-9 gadgets. Upgrading System- The weapons have a new upgrading system, in which the weapons can be given modifications and a variety, like the branches of a tree. You will be able to have the regular upgrade, and pick some from a set, buying them with Raritanium. The new set is an improved version from the Deadlocked System. You'll be able to rearrage prearrange, and place them in a particular part of the grid. This sort of system is officially called "The Modification Tree" and "Multi Grid". The selectable mods can be increase of ammo capacity, firing speed, and radii. From this, you'll be able to reveal unique upgrades for each weapon and secret mods along the way. Combat Devices- Combat Devices are weapons that take care of things easily-very powerful. Ammo will only be in the fields--not vendors.
Mentioned Weapons: Turncoat Bombs (combat device), Confuzzler Gas (combat device that rises enemies until they explode), HeliaPods, Leech Bomb (combat device that sucks health out of enemies)
Razor Claws- Fast melee weapon best in close range, and goes superbly quick. Weapon
Nanoswarmers- The Nanoswarmers are heat-seeking nanobots that can be placed as a staff. They'll attack every enemy within range. Weapon
Shock Ravager: A whip weapon that can pick up small enemies and throw them around. Works similiar to the Plasma Whip. Weapon
Reaper: The Reaper is the simple shotgun of the game, acquirable with ice and fire mods. Weapon Mag-Net Launcher: The Magent Launcher surrounds enemies with an electromagnetic field, crushing and electrifying them all. It upgrades to the Magnet Cannon, which now does brain damage to the enemies, and causes them to attack their own. Weapon Mr. Zurkon: A little floating combat bot that has his own mini arsenal, and even a skin of Captain James. Mr.Zurkon can be called by Ratchet to help him take out enemies. Guess what else! He taunts enemies and makes comments on the battlefield! When modified, he's given stronger lasers and blasters.
Some quotes include: "I will spare you, little alien creature. Psyche! Mr. Zurkon is only for killing. Okay. Mr. Zurkon will take note, now." "I shall make you kneel, little alien!" Combat Device
Death Springs: Like slinkies of doom, they home in on enemies, and create explosive results--Some cling to the enemies everywhere, and create explosions subsequently. Hope you enjoy it, since it was inspired when an IG employee fidgeted with a slinky during Resistance's production, and made the other employees fo crazy. Combat Device Predator Rockets: Similiar to the Spitting Hydra in Ratchet and Clank: UYA, but uses homing missiles instead. Its upgrade, The Raptor Launcher, creates a yellow napalm effect after impact. Weapon Alpha Disruptor: A powerful laser that can be charged up for damage, and can clear an area. Weapon Negotiator: The Negotiator is the new single-shot missile launcher. Weapon Groovitron:A disco RPG, which uses an auditory stimulus to make enemies dance. Each enemy will have its own dance. Ratchet and Clank also feel free to do some dance moves of their own! Combat Device AMMO: 5 Disco Balls Tornado Launcher: It's called manning Mother Nature within, since it launches a SIXAXIS controllable cyclone, which picks up enemies and debris. When upgraded to the Tempest Launcher, lighting bolts spring out of the tornado to cause additional damage, and collect debris much quicker. Another ability with maneuvering the tornado, is that you can create a scatter effect, meaning that once you let go, it'll immediately oblitereate the enemies. Weapon Icon is an engulfed Tornado. Plasma Beasts: Launches elemental-type slimy monsters that attack enemies. They start out as small little globs, and grow to be Plasma Stalkers, which are larger monsters. Their ammo units are measured in 'pods'. Weapon Icon has a devious face. Ammo: 8(of Plasma Stalker). The Plasma Beasts have been mentioned to have their own medial AI.
Combustor: It seems like the ho-hum standard weapon of the game, and fires heavy, akimbo bullets, within a medial range. On impact, light scatters onto the gorund, setting it ablaze.Weapon Icon shows a swirled fireball, and it has 100 ammo. It's upgrade does rapid fire, with more damage, as the Magma Combustor.
Buzz Blades: The fast-rate chopper ammo launcher, sending scalpel-edged ammo at the rate of a machine gun. It also has recessive sub-projectiles, making it good for shielded enemies. The functional version allows the saws to stick to walls, grind into them, and ricochet or seek heat. Weapon Icon shows a disc with many ridges. Ammo: 200 blades. Pyro Blaster: Unleashing superheated energy, the Pyro Blaster is the architypal flamethrower. Weapon Icon is a simple flame. Visi-Copter: Controllable by the SIXAXIS, it's a small helicopter that launches missiles, and is a good, strategic compatibility with the Groovitron. Combat Device Although it uses the SIXAXIS, the Visi-Copter will use it differently than the Tornado Launcher, whereas it uses an alternate tilt. Enemies also try to swipe or hit the Visi-Copter at some points, proving the AI. Icon is a pygmy helicopter. Ammo: 3 copters. CONTROLS- Tilt- Hover Circle Button- Fire Fusion Rocket X Button- Ascend Square Button- Descend Triangle Button- Self-Destruct Fusion Grenade:It's a plump bomb that has a large blast radius. It's a more powerful, effective thing of the (Acid) Bomb Glove). When upgraded to the Fusion Bomb it, after the main impact, the aunches smaller sub-nades, which sound like fireworks. Weapon Ammo: 8 Icon shows a grenade. Transmorpher- This is obviously the new morphing weapon...changing enemies into penguins. Combat Device There are different penguin types-some with beany scarves, some with Qwark caps, and another chin-starp penguin. Others include the variety of the hats- some are black, others are red, green, white, or blue. Don't forget the monacles! They will too, have a dance to the Groovitron. When smashing the penguins, it causes a snow effect. - When modifed, enemies will be attracted by the penguins and a chain morph effect will be incorporated.
Gelanator: Fires a jello substance called gelatonium, both compatible as a minor weapon, and can be used to climb, and make structures of. It is retrieved on Planet Cobalia. Gelanator ammo has to be refilled by collecting jello liquid from tubes, and the Jell-O cubes can change in size, by combining various shots. Other uses include a blockade for enemy fire, and an item catcher if pushed. Gadget Swingshot: The swingshot returns, and can be used to hitch rides on vehicles and to swing around with versa-targets. Gadget Gravity, Charge and Grind Boots: They return, and become more useful than ever. The Gravity Boots also now allow Ratchet to double jump, go up grav-ramps and grav-rails. The charge boots will return as well and help Ratchet boost over many fields. Gadget Pirate Costume/Holo-Pirate: Why not transform Ratchet and Clank into a short, peg-legged pirate, and infiltrate Pirate HQs? That's what this gizmo does. Gadget GeoLaser: the GeoLaser is a Clank-powered gadget that is used to cut away at large obstacles. SIXAXIS is incorportaed to it. Gadget Robo-Wings: The Robo-Wings allow Ratchet and Clank to soar into the air. they're mainly Clank-Powered, and are an ability given to him, by The Zonie.
Gyro-Cycle- A ratatable spherical bike that can be maneuverable throughout tunnels, platforms, and be launched via "Gyro Laucnhers". VEHICLE Decryptor: A minor item used in specific locations for powering down, and powerng up systems, being a hacker-type/bypass gagdet. SIXAXIS incorporated. The objective is to lead a metallic sphere, and place it in a circuitry gap to let energy flow through a wire. If the gap isn't connected, then the lock will reset. There are various ways to go through a hacking puzzle. SAMPLE Gadget
Quotes From Insomniac "Here's a specific example. For Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction, which we're putting the finishing touches on now, it has been the smoothest production we've ever had." - Ted Price Experience "One of the things we've done in Ratchet and Clank Future is [we've] really sort of brought the two parts of the experience together," explains Nicholls, "the story, the gameplay -- we never break that wall between the two. Throughout the story, in all of the cut scenes, the assets you see acting are actual game assets." DESTRUCTOID Preview Combat Devices "We have a new type of weapon called 'combat devices,'" said Brian Allgeier, creative director on Tools of Destruction. "In the past we would always kind of dumb down our weapons a little bit because we didn't want them being too powerful, but these are like RPG items that you can use in special pinches." Not The Last Game and How It's Going Back "...Just don't expect every loose end to be tied up here..."We've got this really epic story that we feel will span multiple games", says Allgeier,". -Brian Allgeier, D. Director, April EGM Cover Story. "It was a no-brainer for us to explore what made the original so compelling," -Ted Price, Insomniac President, April EGM Cover-Story Variety "It's all about variety," says Dezern. "We've had a lot of different types of gameplay in the series, and I think we're getting back to the studio's strength of showing as much as we possibly can in a title." and "We're taking the various gameplay modes and stringing them together to really create this intense series f events." -Chad Dezern, April EGM Cover Story Full EGM Mentioning: In Tools of Destruction, you'll see roughly a 60/40 split between combat and platforming (in comparison, Deadlocked was closer to 80/20) with much more of an emphasis on exploration, gadgets, and gadget puzzles. Insomniac isn't ready to talk specifics on that front, but you'll see challenges along the lines of Up Your Arsenal's Hacker minigame. "It's all about variety," says Dezern. "We've had a lot of different types of gameplay in the series, and I think we're getting back to the studio's strength of showing as much as we possibly can in a title." Space Combat "Before, we felt that we gave players too much rope to hang themselves with," says Design Director Brian Allgeier. "So we decided to keep these segments more in the vein of an action sequence and show off the best visuals we could." -Brian Allgeier, D. Director, EGM Cover Story Older Gamers "When we get to older gamers, we see a whole new feel...and I think that's how people have different perceptions. They either loved Ratchet and Clank, or loved it as their little brother's or sister's game, and we want this game to compell older gamers, but keep it friendly like it's predeccessors," Ryan Schneider, PWNED Radio Level of Detail "We want to head to the classic Ratchet and Clank style, more vivid, action-oriented...and what we can do with the PS3 is the massu graphics, lighting or selection, rather that chrome on the Kerchu metal, is actually chrome, or the enemies, they actually have that since that they're alive, and that's what we're going for more than anything, trying to make the franchise great, and bring the player into the universe, unlike we've been able to earlier in the series. -Ryan Schneider, PWNED Radio "I personally, have been fascinated by CGI and CGM movies, and have always wanted to be in one, not to sound crazy, but that's what we're doing with Ratchet Future. Making the most out of its potential. Production and Levels "...Right now, we're going to another focus test, and what we're gonna do is put all the features into the game...putting all the pieces into the game, so what that means is that we have a lot of features, a lot of levels, and it's getting them running, getting them working, and making them playable. And then from that point on, we get to polish the levels. So really it's getting the whole game up on its speed, as they say, so it becomes one working game, and we get to see what we got." -Ryan Schneider, Marketing Director, Episode 7 Full Moon Podcast "*Answering to question on if the focus test is stressful,*, "Yes it is, for most of the part, but we're in a pretty good shape, and've gotten much more ahead than we have in the previous games, since we've had this pre-production period to help us anticipate some of these later problems," -Ryan Schneider, M. Director, E7-Full Moon Podcast
KERCHU BOSS OBSERVATIONS The Kerchu Wrecky is a dub for the Kerchu City Boss Battle. It floats for half of the boss battle, and then stands once it gets to Arena Mode. During the Grinding Portion, it destroys some of the grind rails with its wrecking ball arms and fires Heat-Seeking Missiles. One HSeeking Missile follows Ratchet up a curved Grind Rail Tower. When in normal grinding, the Wrecky fires missiles, but in rapid-fire form. When Ratchet is going up into the arena section, the boss again fires HSeeking Missiles. Behind the Green Glass, he has to dodge green flame balls. When in straight form towards the arena, the camera pans, and Ratchet must fire at the Wrecky' weak points, from a magnetic segment. After the Wrecky blasts the Magnetic Segment, the Wrecky unleashes Kerchu Rollers from its mouth. The KW also tries to smash Ratchet, while he's shooting the Rollers. Kerchu Rollers controls it's head, and orthodox. The player will be able to choose their order of methods and sections for every boss battle.

Other Bosses Landshark- A boss battle that can be encountered in an arena level. His nickname being Crushto, he shoots superfast bullets, stomps, and attemts to munch on Ratchet. IMG
Borag Capital Pirate Ship- The capital ship of the settlement of Space Pirates in the Borag Nebula. It's attacks include Barrage Missiles, mines, and electrical rings.
Enemy and Creature Profiles The AI, graphics, and other qualities of enemies seem to be more breathtaking. One even, on the EGM Demo, was stated to use a boulder as a launching pad to attack Ratchet and Clank. Kerchus:The Kerchus are furry, horny, anthropomorphous creatures, most likely endemic to the Kerchu Areas of Planet Jasindu. Their species have been shown with two tasks: controlling a machine called 'The Kerchu Tractor', and using their best techique: a metal, spiked rolling shield. They also appear on Planet Sargassio, mining gelatonium.IMG Seen In: Planet Jasindu, Sargasso They have an array of horns along their backs, and a sharky tooth, along with plates coming out of their fur. There are different ranks as well...On the Kerchu Wrecky Ops, the front Roller is large and orange, while the side ones are small and red. The AI is superior...the rolling taskers go in a certain range to reach Ratchet and Clank.
Space Pirates: Insomniac thought it was finally time to include the R&C Universe legendary space pirates. They're the most common enemy for Tools of Destruction.
Seen In: Planet Jasindu, Slag's Fleet, IRIS Supercomputor, Borag Nebula - On_these_pirate_roughs, you can see different types of pirates, hinting at many possibilities.
- The Hooky uses electrified forces for defense.
- So far, we've seen Hookies, Swordsmen, Shooters, and Shielded Pirates, and a large heavey artillery one, called Rogues, to summarize it all.
- The Rogue, uses its arms to release a powerful, flaming shockwave, or fires two types of demolition ware.
Hooky Pirate Electrical Defense...courtesy of DARK_JAK_911.
Space_Loomers This zoom in is the courtesy of DARK_JAK_911. Crawlers Seen In: Planet Jasindu, and Planet Cobalia - Their eyes are on their sides, despite that there seems to be one above its head.
- They have been seen using three behaviours: spring, float walk, and obviously bite.
- They appear on Cobalia AND Jasindu, maing them similiar to the Tribesmen, and Saurs of Going Commando.
Leviathan of Cobalia Seen In: Planet Cobalia - You can kill them for their souls, which are tradable for bolts.
- They appear in Cobalian Caves, jumping out of water.
- They're similiar to the Alien Bugs and Arctic Leviathans from Going Commando.
Giant_Cobalian_Centipedes Seen In: Planet Cobalia - They're fast, and can rear up, and jump randomly from the ground.
- They've been seen accompanying the Crawlers.
- Attack in small groups.
- Have been seen attack Plasma Beasts.
- They emit toxic goo.
Grophyds- First menioned in July the Second Interview. IMG - They are pelvics, thrusted by fishheads.
- When destroyed, the fish heads flop out, and while helpless, can also dance to the Groovitron, and spare some bolts.
- There are many variations: some have cloaks that enable them to be invisible, and others man vehicles with inpenetrable exoskeletons.
QuadLombax Detectors- These enemies have four legs, a long structure, and have detectors that can sense lombaxes. They're mostly fused at buildings, shooting at the grindrails, or at Ratchet while he's using jump pads. Some seem much larger, and heavier, with more firepower. HD_Quad | Quad Cragmite Hoverships- - They chase Ratchet on Grindrails, and either unleash a powerful, red beam, or launch small missiles.
- They release some ShockCappers.
ShockCops- IMG | IMG
They normally come in groups, and use their heads to unleash powerful shock blasts. They're similiar to Seeker Bots, from the Original Ratchet and Clank. Grunthors appear on Planet Sargassio, and use stomps and firebreaths to drop off Ratchet. The can be killed for souls, just like Cobalian Leviathans. Troglasaurs are also appearing on Planet Sargassio. They don't attack Ratchet, but have mountainous backs, with even some vegetation. GelaChoppers are gooey criiters that float along, and spew gelatinous matter. They happen to love gelatonium cubes that you fire out of the Gelanator. Prehistoric Bugs pop out of the Sargassio grounds, and attack in small groups.
